Review: Reason for protesting charges on Contract [redacted] Dated01/08/20151.The Prompt Plumber required us to sign a document showing their hourly rate of $200 per hour. (Standard Rate $250/hr with a discount rate of $50 per hour). They did not give us an estimate of how long the job would take. 2.I typically pay industrial plumbers $65.00 per hour at work. Overtime rate is 1 time or $97.50 per hour for premium rate. 3.The prompt Plumber ran my credit card, charged $3,800 and never gave us an itemized bill or receipt showing the bill was paid. $650 was supposed to be for the leak detection company but we have no record of that. 4.Plumbers spent a total of 9 hours combined the first day. Both Plumbers spent over an hour each out in their trucks talking on their phones. a.First Plumber spent 6 hours. (Arrived about 11:00 AM Departed at 5:00 PM as I was pulling in the driveway after work) b.Second plumber spent about 3 hours the first day. (Arrived at about 2:00 PM and departed with the first plumber at 5:00 PM)5.Plumbers spent a combined total of about 6 hours the second day. a.First Plumber spent 4 hours (Arrived about Noon and left about 4 PM)b.Second Plumber spent about 2 hours the second day. (Arrived at about 2PM and left with the first plumber at about 4 PM. 6.Plumbers originally cut the wrong pipe and had to re-connect and re-solder that pipe. This took about an hour away from each plumber and created the potential for a future leak where they cut and re-soldered the wrong pipe. I should not have to pay for their mistake. 7.They ran rubber/plastic tubing the distance of about 30 feet. They ran the tubing up into the attic area and dropped it down through the wall. 8.The first days work was performed on Friday January 9th and the second days work was done on Saturday January 10th. Only one day should be considered a premium rate. 9.Even at their outrageous hourly rate of $200 per hour, that comes to $3,000 and that includes the total of two hours the first day out in their trucks talking on their cell phones and the two hours wasted fixing their own mistake of cutting the wrong pipe. This does not address the time they spent taking personal calls while they were working. Too many to keep track. These factors alone should result in a $1,600 deduction from their invoice. 10.However, a more appropriate fee structure would be as follows:a.At a standard going rate of $65.00 per hour and premium rate of $97.50 the charges should be as follows:b.9 hours standard rate ($65.00/hr) = $585c.6 hours premium rate ($97.50/hr) = $585d.Minus two hours to fix their mistake = $130.00e.Minus two hours talking on cell phones = $130f.Total labor charge should be = $910.g.Parts for the tubing and connections might be around $200.h.Total invoice should have been for $1,110.00Desired Settlement: Described in statement above. $2,700 refund.
