I went to apply for housing and got denied because my sister had a traffic ticket and that according to Florida is a criminal record. It is illegal though for them to deny an application for housing because of a criminal record. I want a full refund for the 300 I paid on my credit card as soon as possible for this injustice. Their ridiculous reasons are completely illegal and not wanting to give back anything.
Product_Or_Service: Application for housing
Refund Refund and apology
On July 29th ***, ***, *** and *** applied for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom renovated apartment. They submitted their application packet as a group/family. They indicated to me that they were applying together because their house is being sold and they are in the process of purchasing a new home. They needed a 7-month lease while their home is being/sold. ***'s portion of the application came back denied due to a bankruptcy, owing another apartment community, and what showed from our credit reporting agency, Corelogic as CRIMINAL COURT ACTION - ADJUDICATION WITHHELD. There were 5 instances referencing Criminal Court Action-Adjudication Withheld and all appeared to be traffic related. As a result, the entire application packet was denied.
*** and her brother *** in particular were concerned the application would be denied because of ***'s background. Prior to the application being submitted I explained to all members of the *** family that if their application was denied, they would be refunded the $150 administrative fee but not the application fee which is $50 per person. After I informed them the application was denied, *** the father, was furious. He called the office fussing, using profane language and made threats to the myself and my Property Manager Sakira F.. I informed the entire family the $150 administrative fee would be refunded which was processed on July 29th.
On August 4th, *** called me and stated that she and her family found another apartment that accepted them all. I congratulated her and apologized that she did not qualify for a unit with us and she hung up in my face.
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I understand but I haven't seen the 150. I want to see the 150 back to me before I agree the case is closed. I will keep my charge in dispute until I see the 150. I still feel I was discriminateD against so I will let this close and have the housing department help me further.
