Review: I was at the the Owl for dinner June 7, 2013 about 5:30p.m. I was seated across from the cooking area. I ordered a Filet Mignon med well, when it came to the table it was cold in the center and closer to med raw, I sent it back , Now because I was sitting across from the cooking station I could see everything the chef got mad and throw it into the trash and stared again to make another Filet when he was done he put the plate up to be served and walk away, then a minute later he came back, stuck his fingers in the food made swirls and then stuck them in his mouth and then walked away. All while I was sitting right across from him . I did not pay for the food. And I did not eat it. I am horrified that he did that and all because I sent my food back . It leads me to believe he has done worst, and has not got caught.

I would like him to be warned by the health department and be talked to about health safety and I would like a letter of apology for the bad service and rude behavior in cooking food.

I am the Owner of the Owl and spoke with the guest before she left. The Steak was closer to medium rare then medium well, so the cook did not through it in the trash, but put it back on the grill. He was upset with himself, not the guest. When he put the steak back into the window, he tested it by poking it with his finger to make sure it was cooked enough. After which he licked his finger because it was hot. He then wiped his finger with the damp towels we use that are dipped in sanitizer solution to wipe the counters.
Putting your fingers to your face area is never acceptal, and the cook was spoken to about this. He apologized and said it was just a reflex because the steak was hot.
I had already instructed the server to take the steak off of the bill when it was not cooked correctly the first time, before the guest had said anything. I also gave the guest my card, apologized, and told her I would be happy to buy her dinner in the future, and would insure her next experience at the Owl would be excellent.
We take great pride in the quality of our product and service and take our guest experience very seriously, and I thought I had made that clear with the guest.
It is a shame the guest felt a complaint to the Revdex.com was necessary, I have never had a complaint before in my 25 years in the restaurant business.
