Review: We enrolled our son in The New School this year, and paid the tuition of $7000 up front, all at once. We discovered that not only are there few rules at this school, but what few rules they do have are not enforced once broken. There is no safety at the school as the adults (what few there are) do not supervise anything inside or out. My son had a sprained wrist after being at the school for only two weeks, and no one from the school, adult or child, contacted me to let me know this injury had happened. He also witnessed many other injuries of students at the school. When we weighed our options and ultimately made the decision to withdraw our son from The New School, I politely requested his school records (the ones that had been sent to this school from his former, public school plus whatever records The New School has for him) and a refund if possible. I have not heard one word from the school despite contacting staff three times asking for the records. The last time I didn't even mention the money, just reiterated that I want his records, but no one at the school has returned my emails or calls. In the contract that we signed when we enrolled our son at The New School, it stated that if you paid month-to-month, and withdrew your child in the middle of the school year, the remainder of the tuition would be due, but it did not specify what would happen if you left early, whether anything would be refunded. Regardless of the money, we want his school records, and right now we feel that it's a matter of common courtesy, of good customer service, and that they need to do the right thing and send them to us. They were quick to return our emails and calls when they wanted our tuition money, but now that we have a problem, all of a sudden they're deadly quiet.Desired Settlement: Ideally, we would like the remainder of our tuition money refunded ($4900 for the remaining seven months' tuition) and to receive our son's records, both the ones from his public school (Kindergarten through fourth grade) and the ones that The New School accumulated from this school year. If a refund is not possible due to the contract, we would accept just my son's school records at this point, as we want to be done with The New School once and for all.
