Failure to refund my deposit as well as my out of pocket expense for prescriptions
I was told on a Thursday11/30 that I was eligible for surgery after a through exam. I paid a $100.00 deposit and my surgery was scheduled for the 12/1.
I spend money on transportation to get to the vision center, I checked in, was brought to an exam room, where the dr I had seen the day before did a "repeat exam to confirm the prescription. He then said he wanted another dr to come in. The second dr comes in and looks in my eyes and says "Yes, I am seeing what they saw YESTERDAY"!He then told me I wasn't a candidate for the surgery. I'm not sure how in less than 24 hours I went from a candidate to no longer a candidate. When I expressed my concern I was told " I'm seeing what they say yesterday, your not a candidate". I then asked for a refund of my surgery deposit. They moved me to another room to wait for the office manager, who never came in. I waited 15 minutes and walked out loosing $40 in Uber transportation fees, $20 in prescription cost (my insurance paid more)lost time from work and my $100 deposit.
It was so obvious they had me make an appointment for surgery so they could collect the $100 deposit. I feel this was a scam and I suspect I am not the only person that this has happened to.
I am requesting my out of pocket expenses-$40 in Uber, $20 in co-payments for prescriptions and my $100 deposit.
Thank you for bringing Ms. complaint to our attention. Please note that Ms. deposit was refunded back to the card used for purchase on December 27, 2017.
Regarding her candidacy determination, please note that any final determination on candidacy must be made by the treating physician based on their professional medical opinion of what is best for the patient. Ms. was examined by an optometrist, who then made notes for the surgeon's review. Upon review of those notes and further examination, the surgeon determined it was not in Ms. best interest to proceed with surgery. We are sorry if this caused inconvenience for Ms. but assure her the decision was made with her best interests in mind.
