Although my husband and I are willing to tackle near any type of home repair - we know enough to leave drywall work to the professionals [redacted] was extremely professional from the Sunday evening call for to schedule an estimate through the final inspection of his workHis estimates were competitivehe arrived when he said he would, did exactly what we agreed to and completed the job on time We will definitely call [redacted] when we need drywall work done right Thank you ***!

We had purchased our house warts and all back in Of all the things that needed to repaired, the awful attempt at dry wall in our dinning room was high on our priority list [redacted] Tomamkin's attention to detail and workmanship exceeded our expectations in every wayWe would not hesitate to use him again!

On time, professional and they cleaned up every day before leaving Last month we closed on a 60+ tear old 5BR-2BA house in downtown Greenville Steve & his crew spent nearly weeks turning the old plaster walls &brush texture ceilings into brand new looking smooth surfaces We couldn’t’ be happier Great job! We would not hesitate using them again

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Mr. [redacted] is being dishonest on several points.  When I asked him to come out for a quote, it was for popcorn ceiling to be restored on the half of the ceiling with the skylights that were removed.  I asked if they would be painting the other side so the color would match and he said "you don't want to paint popcorn ceiling because if you ever go to remove it, it's more expensive".  He ensured me the color match would be close.  My issue is not that the color doesn't match the other side as I was aware of that.  The issue is the side he was to repair was done in patches and even what he was to repair was not done correctly.  I have attached (first) the before picture of the ceiling and all pictures after show his completed work.  You can see where the ceiling texture is uneven and the skylight areas stand out.  He was to remove and re-finish the area to the left as he stated an ameteur did the ceiling repair previously.  You can see afterwards there is still some of the same streaking, bubbled and uneven effect still there.
They did not offer to restore the entire ceiling in popcorn texture on the first visit as the right side did not need to be sprayed.  The day they came to fix the ceiling we did discuss how completely removing the popcorn ceiling and making it a smooth surface would look better, but I didn't want to as I am not certain it would blend with the age of the house and did not want to spend so much as I have not decided whether to sell the home or stay.
My friend did not claim to have years of experience or I would have asked him to do it.  My friend assured me the gray color would dry white, which it did.  Neither of us knew it would turn out so uneven an sloppy once it dried.
My phone records show I called Mr. [redacted] him at 7:56am the day he was supposed to show up at 8am to fix his work.  If he was over 10 miles away at that time as he says that proves he was not here at 8am as he said he would be.  I am a very light sleeper so if he was early I would have very likely heard him knock.  Regardless when you schedule an 8 am appoinment for a customer you don't change the time and leave a note as if you were there at the scheduled time when that time has not even occured.
I can assure you without a doubt my floor was covered with one filthy drop cloth that did not cover the whole floor.  No consideration was taken in tracking thru my house to the restroom by Mr. [redacted], no consideration for what was tracked and stuck all over the uncovered areas of my hardwood floor.
Mr. [redacted]s help which was one person "[redacted]" maybe was very nice, but again Mr. [redacted] was rude once he realized I was unhappy.
If there was a misunderstanding on my part of what would be covered I can accept that; however, even the work he states he did you can see is poor.  His own webpage (attached printout) that can no longer be pulled up stated that "We don't just remove the popcorn, touch up a little bit and then call it done"  Why say this if that's exactly what you do.  It is a misrepresentation of your work, not the customer "taking the quick and cheapest route".  $550 for my ceiling to look like it does is not the cheapest route it is a waste of my hard earned money.
The problem I have with the license his, he obviously is not trained to do this work and I have yet to receive a response from Ms. [redacted].  If the license is in her name she is responsible for her employees poor workmanship.
I am so very dissappointed and in such disbelief of how someone can take your money and sleep at night knowing they did someone unfairly.

Regards,
[redacted]

I was well pleased with the work Steve and Mel did. They arrived when they said they would, the work looks good and was reasonably priced. One place was missed (by me, too, I might add) and they quickly came back and took care of it. I would use them again and would recommend them and in fact after my father came and inspected their work, he wanted the number for them to come to fix a place in his ceiling.

We had water damage on a popcorn bedroom ceiling. Singer-Tomakin gave us a reasonable quote, and said the work would take half a day. In about a half-hour, we were told we wouldn't be charged the original amount, just the minimum, and the work took only about an hour. Though we were warned the color might not match, the damaged part of the ceiling is now totally invisible.

We had purchased our house warts and all back in 2012. Of all the things that needed to repaired, the awful attempt at dry wall in our dinning room was high on our priority list. [redacted] Tomamkin's attention to detail and workmanship exceeded our expectations in every way. We would not hesitate to use him again!

1: Complaint: On 5/30/15 [redacted] came out to repair and refinish existing patchwork on 1/2 of a cathedral popcorn ceiling. Per our...

agreement/discussion,the patchwork would be removed and the entire half of the ceiling re-sprayed. 1-A: This is untrue. We stated that we would repair, re-finish and re-spray the patch work areas only as she didn’t have the funds to have the entire section of the ceiling restored.   2: He did remove patched areas and spray but only in patches. Surfaces were not evened out creating and uneven sloppy appearance. He ensured me that once it dried the areas would blend and that he had held his end of the bargain. 2-A: She was told several times that because of the age of the home a perfect color match was unlikely. This was due to 25+ years of previous repairs, a wood burning fireplace, kitchen smoke, tobacco smoke and possible other environmental issues.   3: I did not want to pay him until it dried but felt obligated and pushed to do so. 3-A: That may be correct but she was never pressured in any way. She even had someone she described as a close and trusted friend come out to inspect the work. This person claimed to have many years experience working with popcorn texture and described our work to her by telling her she wasn’t going to get anything better.   4:My floor was only partially covered with a cloth that needed to be cleaned and my walls were also not completely covered. 4_A: This is untrue. We used three 12X14 foot tarps to protect the floors and sheet plastic from the ceiling to the floor to protect the walls.   5: I spent most of the day cleaning popcorn ceiling out of the cracks in my hardwood floor and cleaning in hopes that at least my ceiling would be repaired. Unfortunately once dried, it did not blend as he had promised. 5-A: I don’t know if this is true or false. When we left it appeared clean.   6: His paperwork stated the work was guaranteed for 60 days, and he said if I was not happy to call, so I called to express my discontent with the finished product. He said next time he was out my way he would give me a call. I asked that he come out as soon as possible. On 6/1/15 he called at 6:08a.m to say he could come out that Thursday, he stated he may be late if it was raining, which it did. 6_A: If the time is correct this is 100% true.   7: I opened my door around 7:55a.m that Thursday to find a note that read "8a.m No Answer". I called several times with no answer. I left a msg stating I was home and it was not yet 8a.m and to please come back and correct the job. 7-A: We waited if front of the home for at least 15 minutes after knocking several times and receiving no answer. While I can’t give the exact time she did call I do know that we were over 10 miles away in morning traffic heading back to Greenville when she did. 8: He did not rtn my phone calls but emailed on 6/8/15 stating "the simple fact was I did not answer the door and he would contact me again and if I did not answer he would consider the matter closed." He said he would continue to ignore my phone calls and that I had "signed off on the work" (which I did not) and he was paid. 8-A: This is 3 paragraphs of an email turned into a couple sentences. She also omitted that what I said was when we set up a time and if she failed to answer the door at that time then I would consider the matter closed. I’m not the sort of person who would drive over 70 miles round trip just to create a problem.   9: I discovered after the job that he is operating under [redacted] license ([redacted]), so I have tried to contact her by phone with no response and now her number has been changed. 9-A: What’s the problem? My wife has the license and bookkeeping while I have the insurance, people and tools.   10: Desired Settlement: I would like for [redacted] to contact me and come out to repair these issues. It was not to my knowledge until after the job issues that it is her license number that is being used for this business. Mr. [redacted] has been very rude and arrogant towards me. I distrust him and his ability to do this job. If she or another licensed employee of hers cannot correctly do this job I would like a refund.I have never been treated so rudely by a contractor and find this as discrimanatory & fraudulent. 10-A: From my conversations with her and her popcorn texture experienced friend the problem seemed to be the color matching of the new texture, the existing texture and several smaller areas she didn’t want restored. She chose to go the quick and cheapest route to repair her ceiling. On the original visit we offered to restore her entire ceiling for her but the cost was too great. We offered to restore the half in question for around 55% of the entire ceiling but that was too much. She chose to only have specific areas repaired because that was all she could afford. I can’t emphasize enough that she was told repeatedly that a good color match and pattern match to the old repaired areas was unlikely and that to get a color match her ceilings would need to be painted. She asked but was told that we were not interested in painting the ceiling.   Also, neither myself or any member of my crew was in the least bit rude to her. We addressed her concerns honestly and openly.   Thank you.   [redacted] 864-[redacted]

We were glad to find a local company that can repair plaster walls and ceilings. The crew provided a prompt quote, service, and followed up to make sure the job was done satisfactorily. Each part of the multi-step process was explained to us. They arrived on time, and worked steadily and quickly. We were satisfied with the communication from quote to final visit.

Review: Has too close a relationship with the contractor, [redacted] whom he had recommended. Made sure that [redacted] knew the maximum amount allowed for each job.He signed off on partial payment, multiple times, for work, that had not been finished at the time, and still has not been complete to date. (Windows)We are concerned that he is getting kickbacks from [redacted].He gave [redacted] the phone number to my loan officer without my permission. He insisted that [redacted] be used as a shipping method for the checks from the loan company.Told [redacted] when a check was coming, how it was coming, and the tracking number so that [redacted] could intercept it, this would not have been possible, had the check been mailed via [redacted].Knowingly scheduled inspections on the day before work would be done so that he would have to come back to reinspect and be able to charge me for an additional inspection fee that was not actually necessary.Signed off on the removal of out buildings, when one still stood, as was then removed at my own expense.Signed off on, and authorized payment for the painting of the front porch, which only has one coat of paint.Signed off on HVAC when the duct work was never boxed in with drywall.Signed off on many upgrades that where never upgraded. He created a list of upgrades, that I did not want, or authorized, or receive, in order to get the contingency money. I was consistently charged far more (2x-3x) more than the actual price of the product. Since he artificially inflated the cost of appliances, and products, and then used that price to calculate labor, by doubling it. This also made the labor price far more than it should have been. He would not do the inspection until after I had signed the paperwork that went along with the inspection. When we tried to fire our contractor, he told us that it would delay work for 60 days to get a new contractor approved by the bank. Regularly change the time of the inspection, and not tell me, but act as though he had.Desired Settlement: I would like for [redacted] ([redacted] ) to lose his inspection license status, and no longer be able to do things like this to unsuspecting families that have no means of rectifying the situation, or the knowledge of how to protect themselves.

+1

I was wondering how this turned out? I am in the same situation with who I expect is the same inspector. I would love to compare notes.
