Review: 1)I made a reservation for 6 people on Opentable and was charged $120 to save the date. This reservation was made more than 2 months prior to the actual dining date. Very excited to get to go the infamous HOBBIT in Orange, CA, therefore I had no problem paying $120.2) I called The Hobbit to modify (not cancel) the reservation to 4 people and I changed the date. I was still happy that my associates could come to dinner even though they would not be back in town for 6-8 more weeks. The woman I spoke with was accommodating albeit aloof. 3) I modified (again, it was NOT cancelled) the date again as per another conflict with my guests. I received a semi-scolding response from the operator (whom I believe to have been the Owner/Catering Coordinator, [redacted]) stating , "I see you've already modified this reservation once before. We really frown upon having to change resersvations. Are you sure you are not going to change this again?" I was miffed and agitated, but this was the restaurant that everyone insisted on going. I apologized to [redacted], the Owner. Meanwhile....my $120 was still on their books and I didn't ask for a refund. 4) I called to move the reservation back once again as per my guests' conflict. I got a response that I have never before experienced. EVER. This time it was verified that I had [redacted] on the line (she verified it was she, and I recorded her statement). She put me through the ringer about how The Hobbit is an upscale establishment and that if I kept changing the reservation I was taking up spots that others could have used. REALLY?? Tell me how many people need to make a reservation in March to assure their table in May?! Feeling guilty about all of my modified reservations, I asked her if it would be best if I canceled the reservation completely. She responded, "Yes, I think that is best. You can call us back to reschedule when you're absolutely sure you all will be able to make it here. RUDE, ELITIST owners do not deserve my business.Desired Settlement: I want a public response from [redacted] and [redacted] (co-owners of The Hobbit Restaurant in Orange, CA) on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin,Zagat, Opentable, Yelp, Travelocity and any other website I post my review of their atrocious behavior. I am insulted beyond belief. My husband who works for PIMCO in Newport Beach will have plenty to tell his colleagues about my experience with this restaurant.Do they think they can get away with this type of behavior? It truly is disgusting!
