This letter is a response to your letter dated September 13,
2016 ID#[redacted]We understand that Christine [redacted] purchased a chocolate lab
puppy at the [redacted] Auction in April of 2015 and is having some
orthopedic issues with the now 2 year old dog. Listed below are the facts
pertaining to this puppy and case.I (TJ [redacted]) purchased this puppy personally from Jim
[redacted] who is an independent dog breeder. This puppy was not bred or whelped
at The Highlands nor does it have any of our genetics in the bloodline. I
purchased this puppy knowing that both the sire and the dam were EIC Clear and
both hips were certified. In addition to the pup, a
month of free training was donated by The Highlands. Christine [redacted] gave us the
pup to train for about a week while they were on vacation and asked for it back
after they got home. I made it clear that the [redacted]s still had 3 weeks of free
training remaining and that they should call us when they were ready to give
the dog back to our trainer. The Highlands is still willing to honor this
offer. In closing, it is our opinion
that The Highlands should not be mentioned or included in this complaint. I
have enclosed the AKC papers for the Stud dog and the Dam where this puppy came
from showing that it did not come from The Highlands kennels. I am sorry for
the pup's health issues but I purchased this puppy from a reputable breeder. I
would suggest that Ms. [redacted] contact Jim [redacted] (the breeder) should there be
any warranty on the pup's health issues.
