The Gym in Del Mar

Review: In January,2013,I renewed my monthly membership for $29.99/month. I was required to pay first and last month at that time. On June 26,2013, I submitted in writing my desire to cease membership as of June 30, 2013, By this time The Gym had cancelled both classes I attended. These were the only activities I participated in at The Gym. Before I ended my membership I had voiced my bewilderment with the cancellations of classes to the manager. He disregarded my comments telling me that his is a family run business and he makes no decisions. Numerous times I asked to meet with the owner. He always told me that was not possible. To my knowledge he never informed the owner of my request . I was never contacted by the owner. I chose to end my membership because my classes were abruptly cancelled. The Gym had charged me via my credit card for the June dues which had been increased to $31.99. On May 26 ,2013, I requested a refund for June because it was to be my last month of membership and I had prepaid my last month with my first month in January,2013. I met the contract requirement that stipulates that a member must inform The Gym of cancellation before the last business day of the last month of membership.The manager denied the request and once again would not let me speak to the owner. I do not know who the owner is but he has told me that The Gym is a family owned and operated business.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the June billing,$31.99 because I paid first and last months dues in January 2013. I met the contract stipulation that a cancellation be received by The Gym no later then the last business day of the month. I submitted in writing my request on June26,2013.
