The Experience Dance

Tokyo followed my daughter on social media and invited her to a dance camp to take place July, 2018. We contacted Tokyo via email and I paid $2100 in October, 2017. We never filled out any paperwork other than a one-sheeter with the following questions to be answered: name, age, current location and dance studio, past dance studio, competitions and conventions attended, summer programs attended, and a request for videos to assess skill level. Nothing else. We were pressured to pay asap so that we would get the early signup 25% discount. Once I paid, I heard nothing. There was never any follow-up request to fill out medical and personal history forms as is customary with summer programs. There was absolutely no communication from Tokyo The Company whatsoever.

We got confirmation of my daughter's injury in February and notified Tokyo right away that she would not be able to attend. I emailed and my daughter sent Tokyo a message as well. In April, after many unanswered emails and a phone call scheduled by Tokyo's assistant which never happened, Tokyo and his staff offered to refund our money and we accepted. I wanted my refund asap, but was told that the funds were in escrow and not available until July 1. I tried to work with Tokyo and agreed to July 1 refund. July 1 came and went and I was told they couldn't pay until the program was over at the end of July. I never agreed and insisted refund was past due. I have repeatedly sent emails requesting a refund and I have heard nothing. Still no refund.

I received a blanket email from Tokyo's summer program dated May 6 encouraging people to add more weeks if they wanted to because Tokyo had yet to finalize hotel rooms. We alerted them in February so there is no way they were relying on my daughter's attendance in any way when they were planning for this program to take place in July if they had not finalized hotel rooms as of May.

I have repeatedly asked for a phone number, but that request has been ignored.
