Review: On Jan. 20.2014. I took my 40-year-old [redacted] road bicycle to The Edible Pedal, a bicycle repair shop at 1712 L St., Sacramento, for a tune-up and any necessary repair. After a brief visual inspection, the shop employee quoted me a price of $70, but gave me no written estimate. The shop had my bike for three days. On the first day I received a phone call from the shop stating that I needed a new derailler, at a cost of $25. On the second day I recived another phone call informing me that my bicycle needed a new axle, cost $18. On the third day there was a final call saying a new chain was needed, cost $10. So with $75 labor the bill came to $130. When I picked up my bicycle, I was in a hurry and didn't' test ride it. I put it in the back of my truck and transported it to my home. The next morning, I was going to ride my bike but couldn't, for a tire was flat. It was at this time I noticed that my Shimano shifter was gone and replaced by a Suntour Symmetric shifter. When I returned to The Edible Pedal to have my flat tire repaired, I spoke to the manager and said I wanted my old Shimano shifter returned. The manger said the Suntour Symmetric was on the bicycle when I first came to the shop. Now I've had this [redacted] for about 40 years, and during y ownership I have taken the bicycle apart for cleaning, oiling and minor adjustments, I know what parts are on the bicycle. One more point--when I received my bill, it said the derailler was a Shimano. I don't know why the manager of the shop made that statement about my shifter. but I have since learned that old bicycle parts are becoming collect. So I went on line and found that the Shimano shifer that was on the bike was selling for almost $100. This makes me question what goes on in that shop. To resolve this problem I have tried to reach the main office of The Edible Pedal, so I could talk to the head of the company but wasn't able to obtain an address or phone number.Desired Settlement: I want at least my shifter returned so I can retain my bicycle in its original condition as much as possible. I hope this problem can be resolved in a mature and amicable fashion in a reasonalbe amount of time.

Review: Edible Pedals -a bicycle parts & service partnership- on 1/2/16' sold 2 items to Me: #1) a collapsible, bicycle grocery bag basket & a set of replacement brake-pads for My 5mo Old Electra-7spd.
Problems noted:
#1) The retained receipt-while clearly indicating the inexpensive "break-pads" item- listed the more expensive rack as "miscellaneous".
#2) The grocery carrying basket- in fact fell apart in the middle of an intersection w. only milk, eggs & Orange-juice...one of the corner factory installed (swaged) fasteners was noted now missing, and the other nearly also falling off (extremely light weigh sheet metal "collars" holing the sections of the basket together.
#3) The 2-nut/screws fasteners were note (within 4 days)- to be rusting already...and were knowingly sold as insufficient in Quality/Security capability. Suitable hardware (@ nominal cost) should have been either chrome-plated, galvanized and 1-way type (i.e.-anti-theft ones that used to assemble bathroom stalls. A vagrant was noted 1st to be eying, then moving over to unscrew My bike-basket...for his own 5-finger discount ( but was shooed away.
Upon returning this unsafe/defective basket; a nearly identical "other-Brand" collapsible basket-was noted to have 3x stronger corner retaining collars; but had never been offered (apparently a higher profit margin on the defective unit.
Upon returning it, co-shop owner [redacted] 1st denigrated My basket assembly skills (2-screws+zip-ties)...then attempted to refuse My demand for a full refund. After 15min. he then attempted to refund only $7/$16.24; which was completely un-acceptible. Given the substantially adverse experience w. this shop...store credit was NOT acceptable; and it is highly doubtful that I will be a return customer.
Full refund was adamantly demanded...and specific ref. to Revdex.com- complaint option- did not phase them.Desired Settlement: full, prompt refund.... demanded in person on 1/8/16 @ ~ 2:30PM...to No avail. Both personal cell phone, business card w. My e-mail address were provided. No response has been noted by 5:22PM ( the authoring time of this complaint).
