The Design Connection

We hired Aaron's company to draw engineered plans & gave a deposit of 745.00 in early Nov. Aaron stated he would have preliminary plans in one week. He started work on Nov. 11th & after our deposit became increasingly difficult to reach via phone or email. Finally, after approximately 10 emails to Aaron and his Asst. Colton, they stated they did not have plans yet due to not "being able to get a hold of the engineer" (which we were initially told was their employee, but it turns out the engineer was outside The Design Connection) we received preliminary plans.

We needed changes to those plans and each time we submitted a change, we ended up getting back plans with things changed (that were correct before) & were now wrong, we then had to re-ask again for more changes. We had been told that included in our price was an in person design meeting and when we asked for this, rather than emailing, we were told we would be charged.

The final plan rec'd was overbuilt & the builder stated the add-ons from the engineer would add 40-50K to the build. We went back to Aaron and asked to meet with he and the builder. Instead he called the builder and had a discussion w/o us. We still tried to give him the chance to finish this plan but were unable to reach him to discuss and meet in person. He put us to VM and promised to call/meet but never did. On 1//21 @ 1:45 we emailed & stated "keep our deposit", we needed to go w/another firm due to lack of communication and follow-through. Within that day he emailed, w/no acknowledgement of OUR email to end our business relationship, stating he was sending plans to the engineer. We did not respond. 2/12/2020 we received an email stating he expects to be paid $2800 & no acknowledgement of the 745 already paid. He said if we don't pay in 10 days he is putting a lien on our property. We would like to have him leave us alone and just keep the deposit we paid. We are 4 months behind (building was to be complete 1/30/2020) & were forced to hire a new engineer.
