is a smooth talker. She told me everything she wanted me to hear about how she'd get me nationwide publicity for the book that was coming out. So, she had me sign an agreement for 6 monthly payments of $*** each, totaling $***.
However, about halfway through the contract, I started to notice that she wasn't getting me publicity in any of the cities she promised (and that were clearly listed in the contract). Being on a tight budget and realizing that she wasn't going to be able to comply with her own contract (promising 18 cities in a media tour), I told her that it was best we parted ways. At that point, she had gotten me "publicity" on 4 lame podcasts, operated out of people's home offices with an audience of maybe a couple hundred people. Totally unprofessional and NOT the media she promised to get me when she was schmoozing me over lunch with her sales pitch about what an awesome publicist she was.
So, we parted ways. Or so I thought. After the 6 months was over, she came back with a threat to sue me for the remaining balance of the contract that she didn't even complete! She promised media in 18 cities. She got me a handful of podcasts, not even enough "media appearances" to make up 18 cities let alone 18 appearances!
She then has unleashed a "bulldog" discount collection agency she dug up in Arizona, probably from the Yellow Pages or something. I had to put a stop to the collection agency with a formal written cease and desist notice. As per federal law, any collection agency is supposed to stop collecting after a written cease and desist notice is given. Yet this collection agency is still at it, still trying to collect, and without a single piece of proof that I owe anything on this bogus "invoice" generated from ***'s computer. (Anybody with access to Quicken or QuickBooks can generate an invoice. It doesn't make it real or legit.)
I should have listened to my attorney. Before I decided to use *** as my publicist, he warned me that she did this to others. I didn't listen to him. Now I'm regretting my decision in trying to use *** as my publicist because she really is the worst. She doesn't get ANY of the media she promises. She can only get podcasts and other useless media that won't drive book sales. And then when she breaches her own contract, she then uses bulldog collection tactics and lawsuit threats to desperately get the money. She's useless at her job and greedy beyond belief.
I want my $*** back. She agreed to a contract, breached her own contract, and is further trying to rip me off for another $***+ in money she is not owed. Since she breached her own agreed contract and didn't get me the publicity she promised, she ripped me off and I want my money back!
*** has threatened to sue me even though her contract stated that court mediation is required before she can move forward with a lawsuit. While this case is not court-pending, it may be in the future. I am waiting for *** to file a lawsuit against me so that I may counter-sue for my $*** in lost payments to her, my legal fees, and punitive damages exceeding $***.
Refund I want my $*** back. She agreed to a contract, breached her own contract, and is further trying to rip me off for another $***+ in money she is not owed. Since she breached her own agreed contract and didn't get me the publicity she promised, she ripped me off and I want my money back!
With The Lost Secret, *** wrote and published an excellent book. All of us at The Blaine Group were excited to represent it.
As a decades-long fan of ***, I am sad that The Lost Secret did not enjoy the momentum it deserved in either book sales or with the media.
*** claim indicates that she is not cognizant of media outlets, how they work, or their audiences.
No one in the public relations business can "promise" coverage in particular outlets or marketplaces unless we own them. Most of us do not.
We do promise to target these outlets with compelling angles and to conduct outreach to encourage placement. And that is what we did.
We placed articles in two major online outlets, Thrive Global and Authority, combined with interviews on three radio shows, two of them nationally-syndicated, one of them award-winning, plus two podcasts, and an online TV show. Our efforts showcased *** and The Lost Secret to nearly 70 million consumers.
We aimed for even more.
Sadly, the reaction was not as strong as all of us wanted and had anticipated. When we asked *** to provide additional data that would have enabled us to better do our job, other details to confirm a book signing her publisher had requested, she never complied.
*** short circuited these goals when she began "double pitching" local market TV shows, a decision not discussed in advance with us and that compromised our ability to interact with them on her behalf and our credibility and reputation going forward.
Further, *** never asked out of the contract she requested and signed. She just stopped paying, said that she had been embezzled and did not have the funds. Rather than breach our contract, in good faith, we continued working throughout December, including communicating with her and the interviewer relative to her December 9 interview.
Now she has submitted slanderous and libelous statements about my company and my team in her claim to you. It is also replete with unfounded speculation.
I have nothing further to say.
