The Beda Place

Review: The staff member that was our first contact with the company left a couple months before my wedding. We only learned of her leaving the company after sending many emails with increasing urgency that would often take between a week or more for the Beda place staff to reply. Facts: I and the Beda Place, as per their final statement, agree that I have a credit in the initial contract for the unused photographer fee of $1400 plus tax of 101.50, for a total of $1501.50 that you owe me.We started with an original guest list of 75, it was increased to 85 in September when the head count was required. The final head count on the day of the wedding was 72. As per the wedding planner, there were tables set up for 72, not 85, therefore Beda Place cant charge me for tables, linen, and place settings that were not set up or used.Beda Place charged me for plastic chairs for a sum of $150.00 + $10.88 = $160.88, which per my signed contract was listed as no charge.We requested food for 85. The initial request was for 75, with a cost of $22.00 each person based upon Beda Place statement. Therefore, we are required to pay for the extra ten guests at $22 each for a total of $220.00 plus tax of $15.95 for a total of $235.95 that I owe Beda Place.Flowers and outside decorations, initial budget called for $1000 for flowers. This was increased by $100 when we asked for corsages and boutonnieres for the wedding party, and is listed on the final invoice as $1100. No extra flowers were requested for these areas, the bride provided the decorations.Cake credit $100, plus tax $7.25, he owes me $107.25.Beda Place is factoring in extra time with wedding planner and staff. We met with the florist staff twice, once with the assistant at their shop and once with the florist at the Beda Place. Two meetings is not unrealistic (as Beda Place complains about). We met once with the DJ. We met one extra Sunday with the owner of the Beda Place and the wedding planner because Beda Place had a change in staff, with the loss of the initial contact person, and the Beda Place was not returning or replying to my multiple emails. The owner suggested an extra meeting with the wedding planner, because it was quite evident that the Beda Place was not staying on top of the planning process.I calculate that the Beda Place owes me $1419.28.Beda Place is using creative math to recalculate the fees because of a reported computer crash, So the owner took our total package price (which included the venue fee, security deposit, DJ and other fees that were the same no matter how many guests we had) divided that by our original guest number of 75 to get a per guest cost and timed that by 10 to add to the cost of our package. Which gave him a per guest fee of $138.66. This is not the fee agreed in the contract, Beda Place is in breach of contract To summarize, the Beda Place owes me for: a Photographer credit $1,501.50, Plastic chair credit $160.88, Cake credit 107.25 for a Total the Beda Place owes me of $1,769.63. I owe the Beda Place for: extra food $235.95 Therefore, I am owed a refund of $1,533.68Subtracting the Beda Place check dated 11/26/14 in the amount of $114.40, for a total required refund of over payment for services of: $1,419.28Desired Settlement: I want a refund as defined above of $1,419.28
