I was admitted on September 1st 2016, had my gallbladder removed on September 2, 2016, and discharged on September 2, 2016 at HEB Hospital in Euless, I gave my insurance information HealthNet (a program from MediCal, which is Medicaid in California)to the clerk that came to my ER room, and explained that it was from California, and if not approved, MediCal will accept it, since it was an emergency surgery. A month after my discharge from the hospital on 09-03-2016, I came by the hospital asking about my bill and was sent to Mr. Scott's office, who checked my balance and said that my insurance has not responded yet, and that I would be getting my bill soon. Weeks later, I was given the same answer. Receiving no bills after that made think that everything was in order, until April 2018 when I received my first bill from the hospital, one year and a half after my surgery, that shows a huge balance, and the words No Insured, even after giving info in the hospital and having sent copy of the insurance card I had by then, attached to the first bill received on April 2018, and also repeating that if not paid to please send it to San Joaquin County MediCal, with address, and my worker's name, yet I recently received another bill with the words If not paid in full, will be sent to Collections. Why my information given in the hospital, and then attached to the bill have not been considered? Why did it take a year and a half to bill me?. I can not assured that MediCal will pay after such a long time. I am an unemployed low income widow, who has nothing valuable, and lives on a fixed income Survival Supplemental Assistance.
The information the patient provided as far as ins coverage was listed on the account originally. Claims as well as copies of the patient medical records have been sent for the insurance company to consider the claim. After several denied claim which resulting in the hospital forwarding further details to the insurance company we received final denial that patient coverage terminated in and for this date of service patient was not eligible. We have record of voicemails being left for the patient between the time of 12/4/17 and 12/26/17, we called the number 209-200-6171. As of the date 1/5/18 we had not received a call back from the patient to advise of this information so the account was loaded as a uninsured/self pay patient bill, which provided the patient with a 45% discount off the total charge. The patient share/discounted balance due is $ 14,293.82 which is a reduction from the original total charge of $ 25,988.77. We have exhausted all efforts seeking payments from the insurance information we were provided so therefore the billing has been updated as patient due. I am rejecting this response because:
It is not mentioned about the copies I attached to one of the last invoices you sent me, with the information of my case worker at MediCal in California, which actually took over the previous insurance HealthNet which is probably the one you have been calling. There is no mention of any kind of Financial Aid. This account has already been sent to Collections. I also sent a letter attached to the last invoice, which copy I sent to the collection agency. Thank you.
