Review: The business advertises Rockstar Energy Drinks at $1.99. I was charged $2.81 on my receipt for one drink only. The lady said "tax" for the discrepancy
Teriyaki To Go sells Rockstar Energy Drinks for the advertised price of $1.99. When I went to check out I told the gal that I was only purchasing one energy drink, no food. She responded "Two-fifty." I pointed out that the selling price was $1.99. She responded "Tax, tax." So I assumed that the price after tax was $2.50. I handed her my debit card. After swiping my card she walked away expecting me to walk away without a receipt. I stood there as she walked to the kitchen. I stood at the counter waiting until she returned from the kitchen to ask if I needed to sign my credit card transaction. When she returned I asked if I needed to sign since I clearly saw the place for my signature on the printed copy. She said that I did not have to sign. So I asked for my receipt. My receipt shows a total charge of $2.81. Either this is a case of false advertisement or billing fraud. Below are all the details of the receipt.
Terminal ID: XXXXXXXX
Merchant #: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Batch: XXXXXX
INV: XXXXXX
Date: August 26, 2013
Time: 11:18am
Approval: XXXXXXDesired Settlement: I want the store to stop stealing money from people. If they advertise a price of $1.99, they should honor that price not bait and switch people into paying more money. I do not want anything from them. I just want them to be accountable for their bad business practice. I can afford to pay $2.81 for an energy drink but this is America and customers should be protected from fraud like this. My receipt is available to view upon request. Thank you.

Response:
Initial Business Response
Company states that the customer's charges are:
$1.99 + tax + ATM fee $0.65 = $2.81
Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The store copy receipt that printed when she swiped my card had a signature line. They clearly ran my card as credit card. I did not punch in my personal identification number (PIN) as a debit card transaction usually requires. That's why I asked if I needed to sign. They are lying to someone here. How can they charge an "ATM fee" on a credit card transaction?
