In November of 2013 I chose to do buisness with Team Ford, in hopes of buying a new/used vehicle. As an accredited dealership who has been operating for 3 decades in the city of Edmonton, I had no second thoughts when it came to the legality of purchasing a motor vehicle from this buisness. After 2 weeks of negotiations on the price of the vehicle I had chosen, we settled on it and closed the deal. During this time there was a good deal of information being passed on to me about the vehicle. I was wearing of it being in an accident which they legally had to divulge to me. But I was rest assured with a copy of an inspection done on the vehicle stating the frame of the vehicle was not compromised in any way to make it unsafe. This was an assurance not only in the reliability of Team Ford and their concerns with safey but also with the law. In 2016 I was pulled over by an Edmonton Police officer who informed me that the car I was driving had illegal window tint on the front two windows. I was issued a ticket for $84 dollars . I was still making payments on this vehicle and working full time at a job that payed minimum wage. Between the time I bought the vehicle and me recieving the ticket, [redacted] The tint was a job done by the previous owner, who Team Ford had either traded or bought the vehicle from. With the assurance that I was purchasing a safe and road ready vehicle from Team Ford, I was not assured that it was street legal. [redacted]. [redacted] Trying to settle the matter myself I was denied compensation for the time I missed from work to fight the ticket in court, to pay for the ticket, and then also to pay for the tint to be removed from my vehicle, which I am now missing more work for, plus cab fare. Team Ford decided to plead ignorance with me saying they did not know about the window tint, but also stated if they had known they still would have sold the vehicle to me, saying it is up to the customer to know the legality of the vehicle they are buying. [redacted] If the information about the window tint had been disclosed beforehand, I never would have purchased said vehicle and probably still would have dealt with Team Ford. Now, I am extremely dissatisfied and out alot of money [redacted].
