I have received a letter regarding a complaint submitted to your office from a customer that ourcompany did work for in This complaint has been assigned an ID of ***
I do not dispute any of the information provided in the complaint, and upon my review of thecomplaint, I cannot see
anything that is inaccurate or has been misrepresented by the customerIvisited the customer's home on 02/06/and witnessed the concrete issues as described by thecustomerI took some pictures which are available upon request showing the damage to the concrete.I explained to the customer that this is not customary to see happen to any of the flatwork concrete thatour company doesI explained that I would discuss the issue with my concrete contractor anddetermine a repair solution that would be acceptable, without compromising the beauty andfunctionality of the concrete patio
At that site visit in February I also asked the customer if they had used salt, or ice-melt, as thoseproducts contain chemicals that can cause this specific type of damage to newer concreteShe said thatthey had not used any of those substances
I did speak with my concrete contractor and we have determined that there is an industry acceptedsolution to the issues that have been described by the customerThe solution is to remove anysplaking of existing concrete and fill with a concrete replacement product, then apply a liquid color tothe patches so that they match the rest of the slab, and finally re-seal the entire patio with a concretesealerI have asked them to add this warranty item to their schedule, but have not been diligent infollowing up with them to make sure that it had been completed in a timely fashionIn speaking withmy concrete contractor, some of this type of damage might be avoided with more frequent sealing ofthe concrete (yearly), but this was never communicated with the customer
I did contact the customer and let her know that I would re-visit this warranty item with mycontractor and make sure that we address the issue as soon as possibleI will also make her aware ofthe more frequent sealing of the patio to deter any future issues
As an official policy of our company, our labor and materials are under a full-replacementwarranty for a period of one year, as is standard in the residential construction industryAnd, althoughthis issue is well outside of that warranty period, I always stand by any work done by our company,and/or any sub-contractors that we hireIt is always our goal that the customer is happy with our workand our attention to detail
I do want to make mention that my relationship with the customer has been a good, honest andamigable relationship, and she has been a good person to work withShe has been understanding ofany issues as they have arisen, and that is appreciatedWe ultimately are committed to the satisfactionof all of our customers.Sincerely,Buck J***President, Tamarack Construction, Inc
