I had my oil changed at the Take 5 Oil Change location at *** on May 24, 2019. Approximately three weeks later, on June 16, 2019, I drove my vehicle from my home in San Antonio, TX to Canyon Lake, TX and about 45 minutes into my drive my AC stopped working. I arrived at the lake and parked for a few hours, and got back on the road to head home around 7pm. A few miles into the drive, my car stopped accelerating and completely shut down. Given that it was a Sunday evening and nothing was open, and I live over an hour away, I had the vehicle towed to a nearby shop and booked a hotel room for the night while I waited for the shop to open Monday morning. The Canyon Lake shop was able to diagnose the issue in the morning and determined that the alternator needed to be replaced, which I approved. Upon picking up my vehicle, the repair shop explained that they discovered that both the AC compressor and alternator were damaged due to the oil dipstick not being properly inserted after my last oil change (this is noted on the invoice from the repair shop), and the visible (profuse) oil leakage. I contacted the Take 5 Oil Change shop where I had my oil changed immediately upon arriving home to San Antonio, and after explaining the situation, was told that they would get everything “squared away” and reimburse my expenses for the alternator repair and related expenses for the breakdown, as well as fix the outstanding AC issue. They sent me to *** auto shop in San Antonio the same afternoon (Monday) to have the AC issue assessed and after several days, ultimately paid for the repair (approximately $1100); thereby accepting responsibility for the damage. During the 5 days that I was waiting for the AC repair to be approved by Take 5, I was assured verbally by 2 different managers at the Take 5 shop that reimbursement for my other expenses related to the breakdown would not be an issue. After the AC repair was completed, I sent all of my receipts related to the breakdown and alternator repairr to Take 5 and was told that they would now not reimburse those expenses. I am seeking reimbursement for all out of pocket expenses related to my vehicle breaking down as a result of Take 5 Oil Change’s negligence and improper servicing and they refuse to respond to my emails about the issue.
