Poor work with little to no oversight that had to be redone. Flooded my house first then caused it to catch fire. Won't release me/trying for 6 months
My house was severely damaged in Hurricane Michael. Signed up with TAG and has been a nightmare ever since. Hired second rate subcontractors with little to no oversight. Removed damaged roof and then failed to tarp it despite assurances they would. 5" of rain caused house to flood causing additional damage. Framers they hired framed trusses off 6" initially and there are still 6 extra trusses in my front yard! Had to redo the entire job. No additional work done after shingles put on in May, despite call after call after call. No communication on when work would recommence. Then the house attic caught fire. Per insurance fire investigators was caused by the TAG framers. After that incident which nearly burnt my house to the ground I sent them letter 9/1/2019 notifying them of my desire to cancel my contract and obtain a release. Offered to pay them anything outstanding beyond the $20,000+ dollars I had already given them, but received no response. After They cancelled several meetings and delays, they notified me today that they're going after full payment directly from my insurance company. My insurance company! I tried to avoid lawyers, but now I have to sue if I'm ever going to move out of my camper! Francesco is the lowest of the low to prey upon senior disaster victims. I know they're in business to make money, but all they want to do is take money from victims without earning it! No work has been done on my home since May, and they want me to feel like the bad guy. For all others, no matter what they promise you, do not use this company unless you want to suffer the tortures of the damned! They do not care about you as a person or even a customer, they just see dollar signs and how much they can take you for, lowest of the low. Horrible people!

Desired Outcome

I would like a detailed invoice showing what, if anything further I owe for work already completed, less damages caused by TAG, which I will not pay for (rework of trusses incorrectly installed, extra trusses incorrectly ordered in my front yard, floor damage caused by flood, dry out service after flood, any fire damage not covered by insurance). A release of AOB letter from TAG so I can start over again. Judging by their response to me today, they will not be satisfied until they've taken all of my insurance money and leave me with a destroyed home that I'll never be able to live in again! I am all alone and need some help please!

Customer has received our final invoicing for the work we have completed, and he is in the process of reviewing the documents. The Insurance process can be very frustrating to the homeowner and the contractor and in Customer's case the insurance company had to come out multiple times to review damage. Panama City was a new location for TAG General Contractors Inc. and we always start out with the best of intentions and when you are in a new area we don't have the luxury of having a stable of dependable sub-contractor base and it presented us many problems early on with delays, quality and dependability issues. Many vendors were taking advantage of the work in the area and either biting off more than they could chew or collecting a deposit upon starting and either dragging their feet to go to the next job and do the same thing. Excuses are something I would never want to hold my hat on as the norm but in a brand-new area with a much different labor pool than the Orlando area we had our share of frustrations.

The worst part of that is it affects the person most hurt by the storms damage the homeowner causing them to get more frustrated. After continued emails with Customer I believe we can resolve this reasonably and while we hate to lose a customer, I understand his frustration with our lack of specific communication and action plan.

Customer was sending me more information on the fire, but we had no one on site that day and if power was on or off to any lights or circuits, we would have no knowledge of that. I have an electrical background and very seldom unless there is something with a heavy amp load, dissimilar metals for example Aluminum to copper connections corroded and heating up, oversized breakers or undersized wire, modern houses have usually none of these issues.
Customer has always been good about communicating and we were never made aware of this happening and just like the time water came in the tarped area we responded the same day about that and resolved it the same day. Had he said anything of a fire I can assure you we would take that very serious for sure.

TAG has plenty of happy customers in Panama City and we are trying to get every customer taken care of as best we can. We want to resolve this, and I feel like we will get this resolved quickly and Customer will be able to move on.

Failure to fulfill contract.
I have a contract with a General Contractor by the Name of Tag General Contracts Inc, located in panama city, Florida, ***, they fail to complete the contract even though I have paid them insurance money from the hurricane damage, when hurricane Michael came through on oct 10th, 2018. They repeatedly made empty promises to repair the back yard patio, side awning, and shed. They simply took the money after repairing the roof, thirty-two thousand dollars and they took the deductible which they stated six thousand and five hundred dollars, and they have not return to finish the job. For months they keep coming by one day every two months to take measurements and I do not see them for another two to three months. I call their company that is located on *** and he repeatedly gave me the run around and make false promises to come finish the job. Now it has been half a year and nothing has been repaired. They have left nails and materials scattered around my yard, and I am finding 7inch nails laying about in my back yard. They have also falsely charged my insurance for a clean up detail to which they have not done. They falsely charged me for using my own tarp to cover their materials. It is hurricane season now and I have repeatedly asked them to fix the sofits to which I am continously ignored, this is the work buisness I have ever dealt with. At this time I am making a complaint so others do not go through this mess.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a full reimbursement for being over charged and the hassle of trying to get them to finish the job to which my insurance has paid them. I am seeking for them to reimburse the deductible that was paid by my mother and to which she is owned. I am seeking for them to finish their job and to clean up the area properly.

My home was hit very hard from our last huricane ripping all the roofing materials off the roof just leaving the planks exposed.
I knew I needed a Contractor that could take care of all the damage not only on the outside but inside as well. A friend recommended this company and looked them up on the Revdex.com site they seemed to have good ratings so I called. The salesman came out and made lots of promises. They started my house roof on 11/13/17 I was told it would be done in two days and they would put a protection shield around my house which would catch all the nails and debris. On Nov. 13 I left work early to check on my roof work. When I pulled in there were out of State Sub Contractors installing my rolled roofing on my flat roof we watched to discover they were not installing it to the manufactures spec's which now I could loose the warranty my friend went over to the Sub Contractor and stated did you read the directions on installing he said no and than we find out neither did the owner of Tag know how to install it. First Inspection Failed. No roofers showed up again until 11/17 the owner of the son put the top coat on nothing more done until 11/29 11/30 when the bathroom vent was installed. I had emailed the owner Tony several times requesting a final inspection he has not responded at all on any one of them. On 12/19 I called the Building Dept. and requested my own final inspection they came out on 12/20 and guess what FAILED AGAIN!!! Now I not only have a Failed house roof but nails and debris are all over my yard driveway and carport which has not come close
to being touched even though its been asked many times when will this all be done never an answer.
They also took my patio roof down without my permission now I have everything inside the patio exposed to the weather which is all ruined now. This company has caused me a lot of hardship because they can't do their job and keep their promises and they are preventing me from moving forward because the ceiling and installation must be removed and treat the mold and mildew and I am unable to do anything because now the whole roof must be redone. People I have read the reviews on this company right here they must all be bogus do your self a favor STAY AWAY AND WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!

Desired Outcome

A complete do over but this time by a local roofing co. that has the experience of roofing flat roofs and who I approve of.

Contact Name and Title: Francesco D
Contact Phone:***
Contact Email: ***
***
1-This house started, and I was using a crew that had roofers as well as drywall painters because her damage was roof and interior work. I figured to save time and be better situation for the homeowner to have one crew do all the work. This was one of the few crews in which they could do roofing drywall and painting. From my aspect it was to save time and have it where the homeowner was dealing with the same crew throughout the process.

2-*** friend pulled the box out of the dumpster and proceeded to tell my roofer you are not installing the roof to the directions on the box. We have installed many flat roof jobs in Central Florida and have had no problems. We stand behind our work and there is not a roofing company in Florida that has not failed (any) roof inspections. In fact, on the manufacturer's instructions *** requires a certain mastic to be used which is not available from any roofing supply company we deal with. In fact, ABC roofing told me that they have never stocked this product that*** (Manufacturer) requires us to use. Again, we stand 100% behind the work we do that's never an issue. We fixed ridge cap missing on houses after the hurricane and did not charge our customers.

3-My company calls our inspections in and we never allow a homeowner to call our inspections in. The reason it wasn't called in is because we were not ready for inspection. As for the inspection because of all the issues with this house I could have just repaired the areas with 6-foot patches at the areas the inspector failed but instead I made the decision to reroof over a brand-new roof instead just, so I didn't hear from the homeowner that we did some patch job.
4-*** stated she emailed me multiple times and my customer management software I use for all emails tracks and all communications with customer's, so everyone can see any communications with customers.
5-As a tradition I closed my company during the week of Christmas so everyone in the company could enjoy Christmas with their family. During the week while TAG was closed for the holidays I received an urgent email from TAG's 24 hour answering service saying that the company doing the mold remediation company called and needed to talk to someone asap. They are the company working for *** and she told me that *** was telling her she could not get in touch with me and was having issues with TAG. I explained to the lady that I have not had any calls or complaints and I wasn't aware of any issues but that I would call *** right away. Just as soon as I hung up the phone with *** Mold Remediation Company I called *** to ask what was going on and if she had any issues why she didn't call the office. I have 24 hour answering service and we can always be reached. As you can tell my office was closed when the mold remediation company left a message I called the within 15 minutes. Why did *** not call my office? *** told me that someone must be deleting the emails in my system. I let her know if I ever have any issues I never rely on text or email I pick up the phone. On this same conversation I gave her my cell number if she ever needed to talk.

6-Our contract with *** was to do all work on the insurance worksheet which included tearing down and replacing the rear patio roof. We had moved everything out of the patio area and the only thing left there is indoor outdoor carpet which can get wet. I have had *** metal roof on site for over a month but could not put it up because she wanted us to do the soffit fascia work which was not on the scope of work.
Our scope of work comes off the scope of work that is provided from the insurance company. All my subs, employees and anyone working for me understands we DO NOT DO ANY WORK THAT'S NOT ON THE ADJUSTERS WORKSHEET.
7-*** made it very hard on anyone I had on the job because she wanted much more work done than was on the insurance worksheet. If I do that I am at risk of not being paid. For example, when we tore down the rear patio roof it exposed some areas of soffit not damaged by the storm, but she wanted all new fascia replaced including where the patio roof was. None of this was on the adjuster's worksheet so it puts my company and my people in a very awkward position because we are trying to make the customer happy, but we also want to get paid for doing work and without insurance authorization I run the risk of NOT GETTING PAID.

8-I called*** just as soon as I read this, and I let her know that we are very busy with many customers and I don't have time or the energy to get people to put in bogus reviews. I am very disappointed that anyone would ever say these things about me and my company but every now and then you have those customers if something for whatever reason starts off on the wrong foot just seems to get worse. The Revdex.com sight verifies the authenticity of all reviews before they are posted!
9-I let her know that I know in some ways we did drop the ball and made some mistakes and I let her know many times I was sorry about that. This job happened at the time after the hurricane when we were already pushed to the limit tripling our workload with the same staff and rather than pick and choose our customers and only take the simple jobs we tried to help everyone. In this case I regret that decision.
The roof has been completed we have passed all inspections and we have completed the job. She knows that she can call us anytime if she has any issues we will stand behind our work.

Customer Response • Feb 11, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First I would like to state I have no idea who Francesco D is ? Second I stated in my first complaint that this company was referred by a friend who had her roof done by this company and with the Revdex.com ratings I felt comfortable in hiring a contractor that could do a lot of the needed work to my home but I only signed a contract for the house roof and the 3 crews that came were only for the house roof after having problems after problems just on the roof I knew this group was incapable of doing anything more I needed to have done. As far as my friend pointing out the installation instructions on the box to what was suppose to be experienced roofers who thought they knew everything was the reason the roof failed THREE times because they never read the instructions on the box maybe if they listened to my friend all this could have been avoided. Also if this company already knew that *** required special roofing products that they could not acquire any where why in the heck would they suggest this to be the best roof for my home ? The base coat of the roof is peel and stick when they tried to pull that off it was stuck solid to the roof decking and that is why they had to reroof which really is called a roof over and I would have never agreed to a patch job ! The patio roof was taken down without my knowledge or permission and all my belongs in that patio which was removed to the front of my home where any one could help them selves to taking when no one was there. I would never put any one in jeopardy in doing any work and not being paid that is why I called the Insurance Company on Jan.9 2018 and spoke to an inside adjuster I also put *** on the phone with him and the work was approved. I know I have only touched on some of these issues but my time is important and going back and forth on this does not help me to move on I have a long journey ahead trying to get my home where it was before this nightmare started and yes it was a busy time for all but no matter how big or small a problem is they should all be considered how important it is to the customer they all should be treated with the highest priority my beliefs are if you do the job right the first time I should not have to call you back plain and simple so with that said I will no longer reply to any more comments and let this rest I also believe that its only a matter of time that will tell the true story. I should add my roof still has ripples all around the roof drip edges I was told they should seal them selves with the summer heat we shall see.

TAG General Contractors Response • Mar 08, 2018

Francesco is the sales manager for TAG General Contractors Inc.
We do inside work and roofing yes, our contract with her initially had us doing all the work. *** asked us to do much more than was on the insurance adjusters worksheet and this put the brakes on us moving on. I just can't replace soffits, fascia or anything on the adjuster's worksheet without authorization from the insurance company because we would be at risk of not being paid. We as a contractor are caught in the middle. We are very capable when we do work on adjuster's worksheet but when asked to do things, that the insurance company does not have on their worksheet waiting for on the authorization slows the process down to a standstill.
No one did a patch job on her roof I was simply stating I did not have to redo the entire roof to pass inspection, but we went over and above and redid the roof. As far as *** and the box instruction I simply was saying that the mastic manufactured by *** is not available at any roofing supply house in central Florida. *** is a very good product. TAG stands behind its work and if there are ever any issues our number is ***.
I appreciated *** doing that for us and I hope the insurance company pays for that work. This is probably the most glaring issue that started the process out on the wrong foot because up to this point I never had a job that was so much more work than the adjuster's worksheet like this one. Communication and staying on the process with the insurance company is the only way to handle a project like this.
At this point the roof has been completed and final approval issued by the Seminole County Building Dept, on 1/25/18 by inspector ***.*** is always welcome to call if she has any further issues. We are not going anywhere, and we do care about all our customers. I regret us causing *** grief, and I only wish she had of called our office the minute she felt like we were dropping the ball. I know it would have turned out better for her in the end. I am always available to respond to customers complaints or issues.

If you are looking for roof repair from a reputable business in the Orlando Area, try Tag. They replaced my roof 2.5 years ago, were extremely helpful with the insurance process, gave a fair estimate and performed the work on time. After Irma, my roof did well, but 6 pieces of capping who shingle were ripped off (no water damage inside) I called their office at 830 this morning, they quickly verified my address in their system and someone was on my roof making the repair by 1230, no questions asked on their warranty for the shingles or their labor. Thank you Tag for quickly resolving the issue and having great customer service during the original Installation and in servicing the warranty repair after a catastrophic storm.
