Where do I start????
Tech came unprepared to do the work. Did not empty the water heater before trying to move it. My husband had to provide instruction & equipment in order for the Tech to get the original water heater out of our home. As the new WH was being installed the Tech tried to set it up at a slant. Therefore my husband had to provide a shim and let the Tech know that is not how that should be installed. That evening we received an email from TCR Rooter with an additional charge of $110.00 $10.00 for the part and $99 for delivery??? The part was literally a 2inx2in piece of metallic taping for the vent area. The actual vent that has been in the house since 1973 was NOT replaced. Had that happened, we would have been more than happy to pay the $110.00 with some acknowledgment from the Tech. We should of taken the "pay out" and done the work ourselves since my husband pretty much did the installation through verbal instruction.
My husband was not informed on the additional charge, nor did we sign anything in regards. In the course of the work, the Tech had mentioned that he was hungry and had no money til payday, therefore my husband fed the Tech some food.
AFTER the installation, my husband went to double check some of the work and where the turn off valve is for the main water is located, was full of water from the Tech overturning the shut off valve. We took it upon ourselves to fix.
Had there been some communications on what would be expected to pay additionally and actually a Tech that knew what he was doing on site, our experience would have been much better.
Both my husband and I have reached out to Mark (owner, TCR Rooter) on several occasions and have yet to hear back in regards to the additional $110.00 fee. Due to this fact, we are in connection with a lawyer to see if we are responsible for parts that were not explained to us or any signed documents excepting those additional charges. Also, notifying the Revdex.com of the experience, lack of honor & no further communication from TCR.
On the flip side we are grateful to hot water.
I am concerned that this customer was not pleased with the service they received. When I spoke to my technician the two stories differ so I can only convey what my employee said and explain what was said when I spoke to the customers husband. Starting from the beginning of the comments The water heater would not drain completely due to the drain plug being blocked with mineral deposits so the only way to remove it was with water in it. As far as installing the water heater on a slant, the floor of the area where the water heater was located was slanted. The technician had just got the water heater in place and did not even get a chance to see if it could be shimmed and installed properly or if the floor needed to be repaired before completing the install when the customer started helping with advice. The vent part was a 3" x 8" section of vent pipe that had to be installed to match up to the existing vent going through the ceiling along with the additional labor to install it there was no "delivery" charge. Our technician should have told the customer that his warranty would not cover the additional work but he did not which was our mistake. The comments about the food came as a surprise to my technician, he did not know what I was talking about when I asked him about this job so I do not know who is correct. I am not sure what the customer is talking about as far as the shutoff valve, the valve is a quarter turn valve that has a stop on it to keep it from being "overturned" The technician could not have replaced the water heater if the water was not turned off properly. As far as reaching out to me I did speak to the customers husband twice and his concern was the additional charge, I did not hear about any other issues related to the water heater. When I spoke to Jason the husband that due to the fact that we did not inform them about the additional charges prior to completing them that I would void the invoice which was done.
