Swiss & Martin Shutters Reviews (3)

For several years we have wanted to have our kitchen cabinets refaced but were always stopped by our Sub Zero refrigerator's two wood panel doorsFinding a match between Sub Zero factory replacement panels and the manufactured doors and drawers being offered by local resurfacing companies proved to be an impossible and disappointing taskWe needed to find a company that could do custom work for the cabinets, drawers and our two Sub Zero refrigerator wood panels by using the same wood material throughout the project
After reviewing Revdex.com ratings we chose two of the highest rated companies to provide estimatesThe two estimates we received proved to be unsatisfactory because of very poor solutions for our Sub Zero issue and cost
Because of a poor Revdex.com review we were reluctant to call on Swiss & Martin for an estimate; but, because they offer custom cabinetry solutions, we called on themBoth owners participated in measuring and recommending very practical solutions that can't be offered by others because they have their own fully equipped custom woodworking and cabinetry shopBesides equipment they had the experience to duplicate the two custom Sub Zero refrigerator doors panels we needed for a perfect kitchenWith fingers crossed we contracted with Swiss & Martin; and, we are very glad we did
Our kitchen had been remodeled and expanded by previous owners and the results were mediocre at best, with many appearance problems because of the fit and size of the manufactured doors usedTo fix these problems, Swiss & Martin manufactured custom doors sized to fit these problematic cabinets; and, at their suggestion, doors were reduced to for a very custom and more attractive look
Other notable, positive points, they use their own seasoned wood (no warping, no splitting), mm veneer facing and high quality 6-way adjustable hinges for a perfect fitThe finish is very easy to maintain
The review dated 9/08/is in our opinion petty and malicious in the extremeThe person who authored it is every merchant's nightmareThis is a person that will complain in order to extort concessions and will always be vindictive when they don't get their waySwiss and Martin are a quality and trustworthy company and deserve much betterRevdex.com should remove this offensive inaccurate, slanderous review

Our grade for Swiss Martin Shutters is an â??Fâ?
We had our whole house flooring and trim replaced by Swiss and Martin. (Wood floors in all room but the bathrooms and laundry room, which were replace with new tile and all of the trim in the house). We selected this company because were told they were licensed, bonded and insured and that he was a dealer for the wood we had selected. This company also had an A + rating with the Revdex.com.
When Swiss and Martin arrived on the first day of construction they had contracted with us to move all the furniture into the garage and cover all cabinets, light fixtures/fans and all exposed accessories with 2mm visgueen plastic. Before we left that morning we locked the garage and asked that the garage not be used or the door opened. When we come back around noon to get our mail, the Garage door was wide open, the temp. was 110º with high winds, the sun was pouring in on our furniture and dirt covered everything. (We had to have all of our furniture cleaned before we could bring it back in the house.) When we returned that night we found they had not covered things as contracted and they had not removed our kitchen table from the house.
The second day was not any better. When we returned to see the house, at the end of the day, the front door handle was missing and nothing was secured.
During the laying of the wood floor nothing was protected and adhesive/glue was tracked on all the floors. We even found adhesive/glue on the walls in the hall and on the patio door handle.
The contractor admitted it was his fault for not protecting the wood during construction and he would clean the floors. We expressed our concern that this procedure would ruin the finish and were assured it would not. We moved our furniture out for a second time.
Swiss and Martin sent one worker. With Mineral Spirts and a scrub brush to clean the floor. He spent the whole day and could only finish the den and most of the kitchen. The second day two workers come and managed to get the rest of the kitchen and the living room done. The cleaning was ruining the floor finish and the contractor agreed to replace the Tung oil finish. The third day the two workers returned and cleaned the two bedrooms and hall and put down a layer of Tung oil.
When the workers left, they left all of our doors and windows were open and all of the lights and fans were left on. We contractor told us that the oil would dry in 45min. and we could replace our furniture. The floors did not dry and we decided to go to a hotel. We had to pry the screens off the windows to shut the windows but could not lock the patio door. It took two days for the floor to dry.
When we could finally get back in the house we discovered the Tung oil had not been applied properly. The floor that was supposed to have been a low luster floor was now as shinny as a gym floor. Spots were missed, foot prints were on the floor in the kitchen, dirt was in the Tung oil, and there was spots where there was still adhesive on the floor. We sent an e-mail to Swiss and Martin asking they return to see what could be done. We received no answer. We called the next day to the ownerâ??s cell phone, we received no answer.
We contacted the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, asking that the floor be restored to the floor that was purchased. The inspector arranged a meeting at our home for us and the contractor to meet. The day of the meeting the owners of Swiss and Martin had an out of town emergency and could not attend. We met with the inspector, the inspector said the floors were below industry standard and sent Swiss and Martin a â??Corrective Work Orderâ? to return to the home and correct the problem. Swiss and Martin were given two weeks to do the work. Swiss and Martin did not do so.
The Arizona Registrar of Contractors issued a â??Citation and Notice of Hearingâ? to Swiss and Martin. Three counts were listed. We were surprise to find out Swiss and Martin did not have a contractorâ??s License to do tile or floors. Swiss and Martin did not respond to the citation.
The Registrar issued aâ? Default decision and order vacating hearingâ?. The Registrar suspended Swiss and Martinsâ?? license for a period of seven days. Immediately followed by a ninety day disciplinary probation, and a civil penalty of $500.
Swiss and martin have never returned to our home to see the damage they had done to our floors.
We are now looking for a new contractor who can correct our problem. We have been told, since the floor cannot be sanded, we may have to tear up the wood floor and replace it.
We would advise anyone who would consider doing business with this company, to proceed with caution.

This is a review of a job performed by Swiss & Martin Custom Interior Products, completed on 11 Aug, 2015. This process started back in July, 2015 when Swiss & Martin made a competitive bid on a kitchen cabinet refacing job. Initial estimate work was done very professionally, which involved a detailed description of the materials to be used, the work to be done, a time frame for when the work would be performed and how long it would take to complete the work. The agreed-upon price was fair, considering the quality of materials to be used (in comparison to competitors) and the length of time to complete the actual installation was a remarkable one day.

The day before the actual install date, Swiss & Martin sent an e-mail stating what time the crew would arrive, (0630) and what needed to be done by me, the customer. (Empty drawers and remove all items from counter tops.

The next morning at 0630, Swiss and Martin was at the front door, ready to begin work. [redacted], one of the partners and a crew of two asked to set up in the garage as it was raining and working outside would be difficult. This posed no problem and they assure me they would clean up after work was completed.

The entire job was completed by 1600 (4:00 PM). The completed project was magnificent! All the work was meticulously installed, every thing was precision-fit, square and level. Nothing was rushed and it was apparent that "quality of work" was more important than speed. [redacted] had to go to another site about midway through my project, but [redacted] (the foreman) and his partner didn't miss a beat or lessen their attention to detail.

when the installation was complete the cleanup was accomplished and everything was returned to normal. All trash was removed, all the sawdust in the garage was vacuumed and removed. All debris outside the garage was picked up and removed. All old doors, etc were removed. A copy of a "care guide" was left with me, along with a paid receipt.

Overall, this was a truly professional installation experience. The quality of the material and the work was exactly as promised. The crew was exactly on time in the morning and completed their work by the promised time in the afternoon.

If I had to grade Swiss & Martin on their performance, it would be an unqualified "A+". Yes, I would recommend Swiss & Martin to a friend or neighbor, without reservation. This customer had a very POSITIVE experience with this business.
