To whom it may concern:
In response to the complaint made about my business I believe there may have been a mistake made but it was definitely not intentional. [redacted] Mr. [redacted]...
should have a look at the lumber you can purchase from any large company and realize that if you purchase a 2x4 pallet of wood you would only receive about 1 1/2 x 3 1/2. 5% off for cutting and splitting is fair and normal.
Mr. [redacted] said he received 4 cord of wood instead of 5. I told him I would come and measure his wood because I can not believe he could be short so much. I have been delivering wood with that particular truck box for over 20 years and no one has ever called and said they only had 4 cord instead of 5.
Rather then go and measure his wood I thought it would be better if I just gave him another cord of at no extra charge. I delivered this said cord of wood on [redacted] (the day before receiving this letter). I do apologize for the mix up but I really do NOT believe he was that short at all. But he would not give me the opportunity to talk or explain. 5% of of $1350.00 is $67.50. That is 5% off the entire load not per cord. If a person gets a load of wood delivered there is always "waste" left over after you would rank it. That "waste" is all the little pieces left on the ground, like bark and smaller pieces of the wood that most people use for starting their fires. When I purchase my logs for resale they are in 8' lengths and are measured in cords that way as well. If someone orders cords of wood, for example, there might be 10 logs that we would need to cut and split at certain lengths. After cutting and splitting those 10 logs, if you tried to put them back together, it would only be about 8.5 - 9 because of all the "waste". [redacted]
Thank You,
[redacted].
