In June 2020, I applied to Allstate Insurance Co., for home owners insurance. I filled out the required application and indicated that I had had 2 plumbing leaks in 2018. The owner of this business, Shawn S., contacted me and we exchanged necessary information. He told me that he was sure I would be approved and requested my bank information for autopay. He called me a couple of days later and told me I would need to have a 4-pt inspection for $100.00, as well as a wind mitigation report. I had already had a wind mitigation report done in 2017 and he accepted that.
Because my printer is out of service I went to a UPS store and had all 15 pages (as he requested)
faxed to him which cost me $15.00. After he received all the reports he called me and told me that the underwriters declined my coverage due to the leaks. I already had a written report from the 4-pt inspection, but I needed my wind mitigation report returned to me. I requested that he kindly mail my mitigation report and all he did was email it which is of no service to me because I need the written report for my files. I also feel that the inspections should have been done AFTER the underwriters decision. I lost $100. for no reason and I am on a fixed income.
I would appreciate your help in getting Mr. Swank to return the 15 page written report to me by mail. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Other (requires explanation) I would like Mr. S. to mail my 15 page wind mitigation report which is of no use to him.

Ms. was declined coverage for 2 undisclosed water claims; water claims are almost unanimously grounds for cancellation from all standard insurance carriers. Had the claims been disclosed, I would have advised her down a different avenue as getting underwriting approval on TWO claims in less than 3 years has a probability of close to zero. A policy is never guaranteed until an application has been approved by underwriting, thus I would never make any claim contrary to that. As part of Allstate's legal policy, I am required to record all calls to our agency, her application was taken over the phone and I have reviewed the calls and verified 1). the claims were never disclosed by Ms. on the application, 2). there was never a guarantee of coverage discussed, 3). "Kind" is not an adjective I would have used regarding her interactions. Regarding the report, the original wind mitigation report was FAXED from a UPS store, thus, Ms. still RETAINS IN HER POSSESSION that ORIGINAL HARD COPY of her report. UPS put her report thru a fax machine, sent it to me electronically and then handed the original document back to her. I received an electronic copy and per her request, I returned that same electronic copy to her, so she now has the original hard document and an electronic copy. As a paperless office, I do not retain any original documents for my clients, every document is stored on my secure server. I am sorry Ms. printer is still broken.

I do not intend to have an ongoing continuation of my request (four times now) to Mr. S to return my property consisting of my wind mitigation report by MAIL. I have advised him numerous times that my printer is inoperable. Therefore, I asked him to just return my wind mitigation report via the MAIL. It only requires putting the 15 pages in an envelope and putting it in the mail. Mr. S does not have any reason to retain this property, nor do I owe him any explanation for wanting the copy returned. I am FULLY aware that I do have the hard copy but that does not warrant him withholding what does not belong to him.
As for insurance coverage, I have been honest with all insurance carriers about the two plumbing leaks I have had when applying for coverage. Many have been very helpful in explaining their reason for denying coverage without me having to go to any additional expense with a 4-pt inspection and wind mitigation reports. I do now have coverage on my home. So, Mr. S, put my mitigation report in the mail so we can end this standoff.
I just removed your wind mit from my server so I no longer "have possession of your electronic copy". Don't want it, don't have time for this pettiness.

Nice guy that Mr. S.
I will never recommend Allstate Insurance to anyone who asks me for a recommendation for an insurance company. He gives the company a bad name.
I'm done.
