Suzi's Auto Clean Up

Review: I was given a gift certificate for Christmas 2011 for auto clean up at this establishment. As I am moving several hundred miles away, I took my car in for clean up on August 7, 2013. The owner refused to accept my gift certificate as payment, stating that gift certificates are only good for one year. As this was a gift to me, I was not informed of this policy. Neither is anything about an expiration date noted on the certificate itself. I do believe the owner has the right to establish a policy on when gift certificates must be redeemed but the customer must be informed of that policy or they have no way of knowing that information. The owner should not just arbitrarily make up a date when the customer presents the certificate as payment and refuse to accept it.Desired Settlement: As I am leaving this area in a matter of days and will have no opportunity to patronize this business if they choose to honor the certificate, I believe a refund would be an appropriate remedy. They should not keep the money and provide no service for it.
