Susan Van der Veer Antiques

My late mother was an antiques dealer who did shows with Susan. She had no reason not to believe Susan would steal from her when she let her take a nice 19th century Scottish painting of an eagle. We gave her a fair dealer price and waited. Susan was planning on many more shows than us and needed pictures for her booth. Win/win till she said it was hanging in her “servants quarters” when she wasn’t on the road. When my Mom died 5.5 years ago, she told me it still hung there, I lowered the price and waited.
Now I’m late stage breast cancer and am having a really hard time paying my bills. I’d at least gift it to a friend who’s been trying to help me.
I haven’t gone through legal channels, because who’s got the time? Other dealers have told me I have to let it go. We all get screwed over. It’s just worse when it’s a peer. I hope she’s blocked from doing any more shows. She’s a menace

Do not do business with this womanI will share some facts In I gave her some expensive jewelry to see on consignment I have clear documentation of thisIn years, I do not have my money or my jewelry returnedI filed a complaint in Michigan courts (the transaction took place in Michigan) and won a judgement against her in in This was then filed in Ohio, the location of her business, and accepted by the court She was asked to return my jewelry or $ She has not responded, I have spent hundreds of dollars attempting to get my money I even filed a lien against her home She has ignored all of this and the sheriffs were not able to get into her home to take property In spite of my legal wins, she has ignored me and the courts I have no more money to chase her At this point, after all of these years, I want to warn people about my experience
