I purchased a prom dress for my daughter. Owner ordered wrong size and became hostile and now purposely trying to sabotage my daughters prom.
On 3/24/2018 my daughter and I went into *** Rose a Jovani retailer, to look for a prom dress. She tried on a $600 Jovani gown in size 12. It was form fitted mermaid style dress. The dress didn't fit. It couldn't zip up in the back. The way how the dress fit my daughter she only needed to go a size up. They measured her bust, hips and waist. I went to the front to pay the 60% deposit and the owner said according to her measurements she's a size 18 and it's an extra $100. I paid a deposit of $420 with my debit card. On 4/26/2018 I went to the store to pay the balance of the dress $322. I asked the owner *** do you think I will be able to take the dress home after my daughter tries on with heels?, she said let me look at her measurements. After looking at her measurements she said "according to her measurements, she should be fine." The day after on April 27, 2018 my daughter went in for her fitting with heels on. She came out of the dressing area and the dress swallowed her. IT WAS HUGE. The breast cup was huge leaving her breast exposed, there were gaps in the waist and hips. The rude seamstress says everyone gets alterations and I pay her $95 to take the dress in, she's independent named *** No one offered to return the dress because obviously Vena who did her measurements is way off and the dress is huge. They wanted me to pay for a wrong size dress which caused an extra $100 to now pay another $95 to take in? That doesn't make sense. I left a review on Yelp and Google of my experience. I received a phone call from the owner on April 29, 2018. She was rude, defensive, hostile, unprofessional and no signs of giving a resolution. She called to fight. I left another review on Yelp with the pictures of my daughter in the initial try on dress in size 12 and the picture of the purchased dress in size 18 side by side. The owner again, hostile and defensive left a comment that she will tell the seamstress don't do anything to the dress and she will return my money. I have the screen shot. The owner called and left a message on my daughter's phone to call with the card info so she can issue a refund. I still have VM. I called in the morning April 30, 2018 with my card info and she was still hostile and defensive that she feels sorry for my daughter now you don't have a dress! I also gave her my email address that I expect an email confirmation that she will be refunding my money in the total amount of $742. I sent 2 emails one on April 29 and one on April 30 and both were not responded to. Til this day May 3, 2018 I haven't received an email confirmation or my money. I called my bank and disputed the transactions and they advised that any attempt with my card number they would have been able to see it on their end and she's done nothing. Today, May 3, 2018 my husband called the store and spoke to the owner *** She was rude again and was arguing with him. She stated that her system is different and it takes 7-10 days before the bank would be able to see it. THAT IS A LIE! She said she's unable to talk because she's with a customer. My husband called back to ask for a return authorization number. His calls were sent to voicemail initially until he called from a different number it picked on first ring and a woman named *** was rude as well. She stated the owner is with a supplier. She said call back in 45 minutes. My husband received a phone call from the owner *** and she told him she doesn't have an authorization number, she has to get it from her accountant. He asked how long? she doesn't know when. Her personal feelings interfered with doing what's right. She was arguing about the Yelp review. I am out of $742 and NO DRESS because it's still in her store and can't use the dress because they ordered the wrong size for my daughter. What kind of scam or hustle is this woman running. She is trying to milk prom season by upping the price on dresses and giving unnecessary alterations for profit.
I am expecting a REFUN IMMEDIATELY.
Yes, Mrs. did come in on March 24th to order a dress for her daughter's prom. The dress in the store was too small and by her measurements she needed a larger size. Her daughter was bigger than a size 14 and anything over a size 14 with Jovani is an additional charge. I explained this to her and she understood and we ordered the dress. She did have the option to choose the size she wanted and sign off on the purchase. When she came in to pay the balance she did ask me if there were going to be alterations and I said yes shouldn't be too much, but not to worry we could get the alterations done. Mrs. and her daughter came in for a fitting and yes, the dress was bigger in the bust than the hip, this was expected, however not unusual as not many people have a perfect shape and don't need alterations. I was not at the store for the fitting. My dressmaker explained that most dresses need alterations and that we had to order the dress to fit the largest part, whether it be the hip or the bust or the waist, in this situation it was Bryanna's hip that needed to fit and then we would have to adjust the rest. She complained to the dressmaker and then she wrote a review on yelp. The dressmaker only charged *** for a hem. The dress alteration should have been about $145 because of the beading and the horsehair hem, but my dressmaker only charged her $95 because Mrs. was unhappy that the dress needed alterations. once I returned to town on Sunday, I called and explained why we needed to order the size we did. I explained that I didn't want to put the full explanation about her daughter's measurements on yelp or google reviews. Mrs *** was not happy with my explanation, she verbally abused me by yelling and saying inappropriate words to me and ,Mrs. hung the phone up on me. She continued to write reviews under different names and was very abusive and slanderous. After her last review, I wrote a reply asking her to call me so that I could give her a refund. On Monday, I Called and left a message on the only phone number I had for the special order. I asked her to call me so that I could refund her. I explained that I or my staff would never be able to make her happy and the best thing would be for me to give her her money back. She said ok. She gave me a credit card number for the refund. I explained that she would see the refund in 7-10 days. We here at *** Rose do not refund or give store credits but in this case, I felt it was the best resolution. I gave the credit card to the accounting office and it was not the correct card that she used. I called her and got the correct card. This was on Monday April 30th. Her husband did call on Thursday and I explained that they should see the refund no later than Monday or Tuesday, May 7th or 8th. He called back and spoke to my sales person asking for me. I was with a customer and could not come to the phone. The information about calling and me not answering purposely is all a farce. When we are with customers we give undivided attention and my phone message states that. We state that if they are receiving the message during our regularly scheduled hours we are either on the phone or in the store assisting a customer. They are asked to leave a message and we will return their call. No message was left for me. Mr. called and received my sales person, I was with 2 customers at the time, I told my sales person to please take a message and I will call back. Mr *** proceeded to yell at my sales person and said he was going to call a lawyer. When I was done and could speak with him, I returned his call and gave him the information he asked for.
my credit card processor does not give me case numbers or reference numbers. I couldn't give them what I didn't have. I did assure Mr *** that the credit was processed and they should have the credit in the next few days. AS per my Credit card processing the credit was completed on May 3rd. Mr and Mrs *** have the credit. NO one is "sabotaging" anything. We are an upstanding store that has been in the same location since 1984. We have successfully and happily served the women of South Florida for over 30 years. This is absolutely a false complaint. The Yelp and Google reviews were taken down because of their content. The content was so abusive and slanderous even Yelp wouldn't allow it ... I sincerely hope that BRyanna has found a beautiful prom dress for her prom. She was a pleasure to assist. I hope she is happy with her new selection. I do have copies of anything you would need to close this case, however, I didn't feel it necessary for me to attach as I am almost certain, the ***'s have their refund and has had the refund since Thursday or Friday of last week.
