I have been told that you handle my complaint ID [redacted] wrt substandard stairs installation. Since then, I've got an official conclusion from [redacted], the professional home inspector, who has inspected my property and knows it extremely well (attached.) As you can see, [redacted] certifies the...
apparent defects that may cause bodily injury of my household members and that were blatantly ignored by Mr Scott Maley the contractor. Mr [redacted] offers his litigation services if Mr Maley were to prefer to go into formal hearings - this will add to his bill at least $1,000. I have practically finished the repairs of the stairs using the discounted parts from [redacted] with free shipping ($711.40). The estimate for labor by local professional contractor [redacted] runs at $675 ([redacted] Cut, pre finish & install 14 risers and 12 treads 1 additional coat of finish after install + 14 pcs. Cove under nosing + Cut off nosings of existing treads $675 Thank you [redacted]). I'd include here the equipment and consumable like Shellac and Floor Varnish, etc. The total repair cost is materials ($711.40) plus labor ($675), i.e. $1386.40. This should be compared with Mr Maley claim that it only cost him $450 for stairs and $300 to finish them. He did not mention what he has charged ME versus what it cost HIM. He offered to repay $800, final offer. This is only 58% of my costs to repair his substandard work, and it is way too low. I am wondering if you could please contact Mr Maley and notify him that I would expect him to reimburse my actual expenses in the amount of $1386.40. I consider his 'final' offer of $800 as clearly insufficient. He may prefer to go into arbitration if he does not want to repay. Please advise. Yours sincerely, [redacted]
Received call from business (Scott M[redacted]) stating that they will be refunding the consumer next week. He states that he will call me when he sends check out.
