We do sell $10 gift cards and
these are already activated. The store has to treat them like cash as is stated
on the back of the card. These cards all have a 19 digit code numbers on the
back and are registered ahead of any sale date. The store is...

not able to
recharge or resell any used cards. If the customer would have had a receipt for
the sale, we might have been able to track the sale for dates and amounts
compared with the code numbers.
 Unfortunately, without this information and
the fact that the code numbers on these particular cards were used according to
the Shell Gift Card toll free number, there is really nothing the store can do.
The main complaint from the customer is “Selling Practices”, but without a
receipt for this transaction, no one is really sure where the cards came from
or if this Shell store or some other store sold them to the customer.
I realize the customer or the
customer’s friend may not know all this and may or may not have made a mistake
with the two gift cards, but we will offer one $10 card to them, and if a
receipt can be found, we will offer the second.
