Review: This company called me and represented themselves as my computer service company and said my computer was in significant danger of being hacked. I allowed them access to my computer and they showed me all this stuff I didn't understand but said my computer was going to be hacked if I did any online banking or shopping which I do. Then they brought a contract for $399 or $499 every six months to fix it. I told them I only had $300 and they said they would take that. I gave them my credit card information and driver's license number. I immediately got scared and called the fraud department at Capital One. They got [redacted] head of customer services on the phone and he said he would charge a one time fee of $199.99. I said ok.Today I worked with my service provider, [redacted], and they told me this company was SunTech Ventures and had no relationship with them. The software they put on my machine had no functionality. I had the software removed and called Capital One and disputed the charge.I feel SunTech Venture perpetrated a scam because they took advantage of my lack of computer knowledge and scaring me into thinking I needed to buy their software. They misrepresented themselves as [redacted] my computer company.Desired Settlement: Refund on Capital One charge card of $299.99
Review: billed amount paid - should have been issued credit on credit card, but wasn't.Desired Settlement: full credit issued on credit card
Review: The company made assurances as to their abilities to fix my computer, and after they worked on it I had the same issues as before they worked on it. They only want to provide a partial refund of the price of their services.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund.
Review: I called AOL on June 16, 2015, because my user name started showing up incorrectly on my emails. A Sun Tech Ventures representative called back and said my computer had been hacked and I needed to pay $299.99 for
unlimited" tech support for THREE MONTHS months with their company. Unfortunately, I did this, only to receive further calls that I needed to pay $150 more for extra "LIFETIME" support. The calls were frequent, long (over two hours in some cases), and the callers were rude, disrespectful and harassing. I called Sun Tech Ventures to complain and I demanded a refund because when I finally was able contact AOL they said they were not contracted with Sun Tech Ventures and would never require a contract to be signed by AOL users. So obviously they had misrepresented themselves. I spoke with Peter Woods of Sun Tech Ventures who finally agreed to credit me $100, but I feel the contract was invalid in the first place because they had lied about their connection with AOL. Indeed, I never called them, but the representatives continued to call me non-stop, as recently as October 5th. Peter said that there were scammers who were possibly using their name. I said, if that's the case, then the contract definitely should be invalid because the representatives were falsely telling consumers to buy a contract from them. The calls are routed from various parts of the USA, but are obviously based in India. The main calls that I receive are from Bakersfield, CA. The people I spoke with at Sun Tech Ventures were not at all helpful or understanding. They refused to pay the entire refund because their "representatives" needed to be paid for their time supposedly spent on my tech support. In other words, they needed to be paid for their harassing phone calls.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the remaining contract amount of $199.99. I would also like a cease and desist order on their representatives who continue to call and harass me.
