This is a family run business I originally found through my home warranty program. The two times I have needed them in the past three years they have been on time, responsive and got things right the first time for each of our units They don't overcharge for service, they are honest and have gone above and beyond my expectations each visit. They even have me some maintenance tips on how to make our old AC unit last beyond it's years. I will definitely use them again when needed and would highly recommend.

As an elderly widow I am entirely dependent on the honesty and integrity of those that are in a position to take advantage of me. From the moment I first spoke with Dorena in the Sun State Refrigeration office to the point when Robert left my home I felt secure and was so very pleased with the way I was treated and the work that was done. Thank you Sun State Refrigeration for taking such good care of me.

I highly recommend Rob with Sun State Refrigeration ( locally owned family business) As a 30year+ Realtor I've run into many HVAC companies over the decades and this is a good company as well as they have a very personable and competent Technician named Rob.

The Central A/C stopped working in our AZ property on a late Saturday morning in June. Temperature about 106 degrees, hot, sunny and oppressive.

We called the home warranty company and they sent our work order to Sun State Refrigeration. Since it was a Saturday, we were pretty sure at the earliest it would be a Monday service call. We were okay with that since we were planning a stay-cation due to Covid 19 public entertainment restrictions. We went to a Hotel resort with a pool for Sat and Sun. Best thing to do when you have 3 kiddies under 10 years old.

Monday, Rob from Sun State refrigeration came about 3pm and worked on the unit, took about 1.5hrs. Because we had a home warranty everything was covered and we only had to pay the Trip Charge to the Warranty company which was $75. We had a failed Run Capacitor and motor, Rob replaced it.

I also had Rob do a Chemical Cleaning on the outdoor condenser since we didn't have an annual cleaning for over 3 years. Results were very impressive, hadn't seen our unit that clean in ages!! That was $150 and felt it was very reasonable.

My wife and I are very pleased with Rob and Sun State. Rob took the time to tell what steps he would take as well as he answered a number of questions such as: what size ac unit should a 1800sqft home have to cool it properly, (approximately 1 ton per 400sqft of building space) additional Information on Freon(r22) vs Puron (r-410a) laws and usage(not illegal to use freon, just can't use in new a/c systems(there are other topics for clarification, but won't talk about it in this review), type of filters to use( Pleated Rheem Filter, change every 30days or 6 weeks) and other questions. Their contact info is in my address book for future service calls.

My wife and I have used Sun State for several years now. Our home has 3 Heat Pump units of different ages and technologies. When they break down as they all eventually do Sun State has done an accurate job diagnosing the problems and repairing the units. They have been more than fair on price and have always done a thorough job. I'm not a young guy and I have to say they are the first company I have ever used that are completely honest and fairly priced. Wish I had found them earlier. I recommend using their services without hesitation!

My AC unit started blowing hot air so I filed a claim thru my Home Warranty company. They contacted me and said that Sun State Refrigeration would be contacting me within 24 hours. Dorena, from Sun State called me and we set up a time for technicians to come analyze the problem. They came and found evaporator coil had gone out and would need to be replaced. Dorena handled communications with home warranty company and responded back to me with details of the process. They found the part, came out and replaced it and were gone in 2 hours. I will use them for sure in the future. Very professional and accommodating to my concerns

Compressor for AC system (11 yr old) went out at beginning of 110+ session end of June. Sun State Refrigeration was recommended for work via warranty company. Dorena of Sun State explained to me that there was an acceptable drop in R22 replacement and I did not need a new system. This is different from other companies only saying R22 was going to skyrocket in cost and following up by mentioning new system. Compressor work was great and Rob ,tech, explained the work and process to cool house down in simple manner

My air conditioning system stopped working so I filed a claim through my home warranty company. They contacted me to tell me Sun State Refrigeration would be reaching out to me within 24 business hours. Sun State Refrigeration office contacted me to let me know they had the work order from my home warranty company and let me know the time the technician would contact me. The technician contacted me to say he was on his to my home within 20 to 25 minutes. Two technicians arrived promptly on time. They examined my a/c unit and found the problem to be a failed electrical component. They installed the new component and oiled the compressor fan motor. Then they inspected the operation of my a/c system. They were excellent to work with and I would strongly recommend using Sun State Refrigeration. No high pressure sales tactics.

We were without air and they came out and repaired our air conditioning unit within 30 minutes. The technicians were polite and extremely knowledgeable. Within half an hour after repairs our home was completely cooled down. They arrived exactly at the time they said they would and called when 5 minutes out. I strongly recommend this business.

Sun State Warranty came to fix our A/C as a result of the request we put into our Home Warranty. Both on the phone and in person, everyone I spoke with was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. They originally came last week to inspect the unit and were able to make an immediate repair to help us stay cool and noticed that our other unit had a compressor that was faulty, plus the coils needed to be cleaned. We had to wait a few days for the part to be ordered and the office communicated with us to let us know the status of when to expect delivery, called to let us know it had been delayed, and then arranged for when they would be back out to install it. They came at the time they said they would, made the repairs and all with a friendly disposition. We would certainly be happy to use them again in the future.

I normally would not write a review, but the service was so horrible I felt it was needed. Our AC wasn't working properly and the home warranty sent out Sun State Refrigeration. I had already paid the service fee online but when they showed up only my wife was home and they charged her the fee again. After that they said the only thing wrong was the thermostat wasn't working and they replaced a smart thermostat with a bare-bones bottom of the line basic unit. They then told her that we would have to wait 24 hours to see if the system was truly working. After 24 hours the AC unit still wasn't working. I tried calling Sun State Refrigeration multiple times with no answer, even left voice mails for Dorena and never got any call backs. After several days of trying I called the home warranty and for one confirmed they should have replaced the thermostat with a similar quality unit, meaning it should have been another smart thermostat even if a different brand. However after explaining I had tried to call them for days and begged them to send another company out to fix it they said they had not received any paper work from the company to see what they even did so could not send a 2nd company until they received that information. Also I told them they charged us a 2nd service fee so home warranty credited my account. However after waiting several days Sun State did not get back to the Home Warranty company as to confirm what work was performed but luckily the home warranty finally sent out another AC repair guy since it was Summer and had taken so long. When he got there he looked at one thing and instantly identified a bad part of the AC unit. My wife later said that the Sun State Guys never even went out side and checked anything on the unit itself. And finally when I thought this was all over, the home warranty company contacts me weeks later saying Sun State claimed to have never got the service fee, luckily I had the invoice to prove my wife paid! I honestly can't believe this company is even in business operating this way. Then they had the audacity to send an email burst advertising for yearly AC maintenance checks. As far as their website claims: Honest - Nope, Reliable - Nope, Trustworthy - Nope and Fewest complaints - I doubt it. Do not use this company.

Dealing with warranty companies are not easy. You get blamed for their lack of coverage when our hands are tied. Also the warranty companies do not cover the new WiFi thermostats.
