I apparently did not do a close enough inspection when the tenants moved out. The new tenants came in the next day and began fusing about the cleanliness. I asked them what needed attention. They read off a laundry list of concerns and requested I have professional cleaners come...
immediately to make the property ready for their use. I called in cleaners that were not able to get to the property until the next day. They cleaned the areas of concern for the new tenants and they were satisfied. I did incur a charge of $90.00 for the cleaning service that was deducted from the security deposit. I apologised to the [redacted] for the charges as I was working on instructions by the owner to handle the situation in this manner.
This complaint remains unresolved. The owners of the property have not changed their position to have the property re-cleaned to satisfy their long time returning annual winter tenants. They instructed me to have the cleaning done and deduct those charges from the security deposit.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,
[redacted] After being in business as many years as he stated an inspection should not be sloppy. The letter we received stated that the cleaner spent one hour to correct the problems, for $90.00.We were assured we would receive the entire deposit and we believed him to be an honest businessman. Now he expects us to believe we should take his word that there was a problem, when he lied to us about returning the full deposit.
Review: We rented a home for the month of January from Sun City Rentals, paying a 750.00 security deposit.
When we moved out [redacted] came to the house and inspected it.
At this time he told us that it looked great and he would refund the entire deposit
to be mailed to our home address. The check arrived 90.00 short claiming we had not cleaned
the home well enough. We contacted him and the excuse was there was dust on the stove and
a spot on the toliet. He stated he had to get a professional cleaner to make new renters happy.
We feel he pocketed the money, and want others to be aware of the situation.Desired Settlement: We would like to have the 90.00 returned to us as he stated we had cleaned it properly after his inspection.
