I have been in business 16 years and this is the first time I've had a complaint filed here. [redacted] was told of her benefits which were as follows; we are out of network with Aetna. She says she was told otherwise. She probably heard that we accept it, which we do, and she had out of network...
benefits. I don't know I wasn't there nor is the receptionist who worked for me then. Either way she had a deductible. It was $2600 in network and $5200 out of network. She had only used $1021.25 towards her deductible that year and this applies to both in and out of network. Once that is met her insurance kicks in at 90% in network and 60% out of network. She received services totalling around $1300 which went toward her deductible and we received no payment from her insurance. This would have been the same even IF we were in network. We tell our patients what we can when we call on benefits but is really up to the patient to know their benefit s. Even if we were in network she would have received the same bill. She then becomes responsible for her proportion of the treatments that were not paid. That's the way insurance works.
