To whom it may concern, I am a physician from Louisiana who took his family, wife and two sons(12&14), on an impromptu vacation/Christmas gift Due to coming up with the idea to give this as a Christmas gift a month prior to departure, and it being peek season, my selections were limited After some research, I decided to go with Summit and one of their rentals The service I received leading up to my departure, email and phone, was excellent Having booked at the last minute, and it being a budget cabin, we did not expect the Ritz-Carlton, which it was not I took care of some minor things which included, cleaning cobwebs and killing spiders upstairs, since my oldest has a spider phobia and adjusting to a "budget" cabin We are a very easy going family and handled it in stride However, there was a rancid smell that we noticed, early in our stay , Sunday evening We tried to tolerate it the best we could, given we were out and about some of the time However, it progressively got worse and I contacted Summit, when it got unbearable and also effected my youngest son, by making him ill Summit responded in the professional manner that I was accustomed with, and sent a maintenance man out However, no one ever followed up with us regarding his findings Our oldest was the only one home at the time and said the maintenance man said there was a "slight smell" but it was "normal." We tried to cover up the smell with various sprays without much luck, only short lived fix to the problem In my emails to Summit I detailed the when and where, including the exact location of where I believed the smell to be originating from I came to the conclusion that it smelled like a dead animal or a bad sewerage problem, since it was strongest under the sink They said they would send the maid service out to clean the kitchen, but the kitchen was clean, since we are a very clean and orderly family There was no mention of the report they got from their maintenance man Since the smell got progressively worse, reaching a peak early in our stay, the family vacation I had hoped for did not work, due to the constant rancid smell when we had to be in the cabin It got so bad that my children started asking to go home days before we had to leave I tried to stay positive, with comments to them and reaching out to have the problem fixed, but it did not happen in a timely manner It got to the point that my wife and I decided enough is enough and left Trying to be the easy going person that I am I emailed Summit of our decision, left a detailed report of the exact problems so that they would not encounter similar problems with future guests Not only did I send a very neutral and helpful email, I found out that my wife did as well Since that time, I have not heard one response from Summit, which I find very disheartening, given their initial impression on me, and the parting emails to them, which were intended to help and benefit them I am leaving this rating as neutral at this point, in the hopes that MrLipsey will reach out to me and discuss my points above

They said they would send the maid service out to clean the kitchen, but the kitchen was clean, since we are a very clean and orderly family. There was no mention of the report they got from their maintenance man. Since the smell got progressively worse, reaching a peak early in our stay, the family vacation I had hoped for did not work, due to the constant rancid smell when we had to be in the cabin. It got so bad that my children started asking to go home 4 days before we had to leave. I tried to stay positive, with comments to them and reaching out to have the problem fixed, but it did not happen in a timely manner. It got to the point that my wife and I decided enough is enough and left. Trying to be the easy going person that I am I emailed Summit of our decision, left a detailed report of the exact problems so that they would not encounter similar problems with future guests. Not only did I send a very neutral and helpful email, I found out that my wife did as well. Since that time, I have not heard one response from Summit, which I find very disheartening, given their initial impression on me, and the parting emails to them, which were intended to help and benefit them.
I am leaving this rating as neutral at this point, in the hopes that Mr. Lipsey will reach out to me and discuss my points above.
