They accept credit card for initial $200 then wont accept cc for final bill. They said no its company policy.
Credit card leaves undeniable proof of payment and gives you the option to cancel payment in case of problem- for example, dispute with the mover, you could ask card provider to issue a chargeback.
Pickup was scheduled for a Monday. Driver showed up on a Sunday (June 11) when I wasn’t unavailable and cut or picked my lock to access my storage.
I called so many times to confirm my moving date for Aug 1. No response. Finally, I called the trucker that did my pickup move and he said he called the office and they would call if there were any changes. I had heart surgery and needed my kids to help me. No movers came and couldn’t contact the terminal that was holding my contents. Office couldn’t help me. Zero compassion to help me make my move any easier in my health condition, zero!
Finally 12 days later a full sized semi comes (not a 5 ton truck as was told) and I’m scrambling to make street room.
They repeatedly told me in numerous emails that:
1. As per contract, final billing will be based on actual weight. Their contract states this as well also #13. Weights-it shall be the responsibility of the carrier to show the correct fare on bill of lading used by a certified public scale and attach the weight scale ticket. I asked for the weight so many times in which they charged me for but they would not provide it. This is required by law….only if you want to hire a lawyer!
2. The charges for taxes and fuel are not included in contract because it may vary depending on the final weight.
3. Quote was for 3000 lbs (move from Vernon BC to Saskatoon) but was told numerous times don’t worry about the quote as final invoice was based on weight. Trucker said this is not 3000 lbs of contents.
4. Inventory list with color coded tags and condition report of each item. I asked the mover for the inventory list and he wouldn’t provide it. I knew things were missing.
5. Items missing and mover dropped a box in living room and broke a very expensive dish. When I told Style about it they sent me a form to fill out with a $350 deductible. They lost my stuff and now I need to pay more. Again, were is my inventory list, any accountability on their end?
Moving is an unregulated service, you have no recourse but to spend more money and hire a lawyer. It is this company’s Style, to lie, have no integrity, compassion or customer care in what should be an easy service. It’s your belongings!
