Nancy *** is the owner of Studio Seven and she requires full payment to reserve a spot at her summer camps. The full payment is due in Feb for camps that occur in June and July. She does not show/share her cancellation policy on her website. The small print on the application which is submitted back to Nancy indicates the last day to receive a full refund is May 31st. My wife and I have sent her multiple emails inquiring about the readiness to have a children's camp during the pandemic and also questions regarding her cancellation policy (prior to 5/31) and received no response. Since we are a high risk family for COVID we decided not to send our daughter to camp and requested a refund. She refused to return our money($595 dollars) and cited that we made the request after 5/31. She is sneaky and running a business with little integrity. Most businesses running summer camps have provided full refunds at any time. They have taken a more compassionate approach than what Nancy has demonstrated.
Hello Ms.I am Nancy *** and I am the owner and operator of Studio Seven. Attached to this email is a copy of my email chain with Jason *** and a photograph of his Summer Camp Registration Card which clearly states our May 31 deadline for refunds. For whatever reason, I did not receive your letter until last night. However, I wanted to respond as soon as I was able and address a few issues. First, registration for our Summer Camps is open until May 31 (not February as Mr. claimed). This date also corresponds with the deadline for refunds. In the email chain (which is attached), I explained that this has been our policy for decades, the reasons behind the policy, and the necessity it serves for the continuation of our program. Moreover, Mr. child had attended our camps in the past and he has seen the Registration Card previously and was familiar with the deadline (since he has filled it out and mailed it back to me more than once).Second, I have looked through my emails, and Mr. did ask about our Covid Policies and I responded to him quickly. He acknowledged that and said he was fine with our preparations. Mr., contrary to his claims with the Revdex.com, never requested a refund prior to May 31. He made the request 6 business days before the start of camp and almost 8 weeks after the deadline.Third, at no time did Mr. say that his child was unable to attend. No one in his family had Covid or was actively sick. Mr. simply waited until the camp approached and changed his mind. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this matter further. Placing the refund deadline on the Registration Card has been sufficient for decades. I have been in business for 28 years and never has anyone not understand the deadline.Thank you,Nancy
I am rejecting this response because:
1.) I attached the full application for summer camp at Studio 7. The area in the bottom, right hand corner is submitted back to Studio7 which shows the May31 deadline. No where else on the application and the portion of the application the family keeps shows a May31 deadline for refunds.
2.) I attached an email that was sent to Nancy at Studio7 on May 6th asking a few questions about the summer camp program -- one of the questions was to understand the cancellation policy and timing. Nancy did not answer the question.
3.) I attached an email that shows we made Nancy aware that Zahindira and I are high risk for Covid (pre-existing respiratory conditions). With the recent increase in Covid cases and the positivity rate at 5% --we needed to take extra precautions as a family and kindly asked for her support to refund our money. At the time we accepted her revised program - the pandemic was on the decline in Minnesota. We had hoped that Nancy would take a more compassionate approach given our medical condition and that in general all of us are trying to navigate to keep our families safe during a period of uncertainty (conditions are very fluid / dynamic right now). It's also important to mention that all YMCA, snapology (lego camp), church camps, Hennepin county city camps provided 100% refunds even though cancellation deadlines passed.
4.) I attached an email trying to bridge the difference of opinion with Nancy and asked for a camp credit to apply in 2021 vs. providing a full refund. Nancy did not respond to the email.
We will continue to pursue this matter with Nancy. I would like to kindly ask her to re-evaluate her decision and either provide a full refund or provide a credit that can be applied to the 2021 summer program.
Thank you,
Jason
