Strey's Autos and Towing Reviews (%countItem)

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 my car refused to start. I called *** and a tow truck driver from Strey's Auto Repair & Towing LLC showed up. Without checking the battery with any device other then his eyeballs, he told me the battery would need to be replaced, but his automotive shop was open and could replace my battery with a brand new one for around $150.00.

Having googled the price of replacement batteries and what kind was the best deal through my library access to Consumer Reports while I waited, I agreed to follow the tow truck to Strey's. He jumped my battery & I did so.

Following the tow truck to Strey's took much longer than a few minutes and the shop looked like something out of a Twilight Zone screen play, but by the time we arrived I was running a temperature of 102 and needed to get home to bed, so in spite of many reservations I asked the mechanics to go ahead and replace the battery.

As I handed a mechanic my *** card he repeated what the tow truck drive had told me: I was paying for a new battery with a warranty comparable to the battery I'd had-- but it was going to cost closer to $200 than $150 and that I'd be getting my receipt and paperwork by email. I was feeling so ill by then I must have looked like the it customer I was acting like, because although I stood by and watched the mechanic put the battery in for the entire 2 minutes and 30 second it took him to secure, connect it, and slam the hood-- not once did I look at the battery carefully-- nor did I realize until I was battling my way home in heavy cross town traffic that I had no paperwork, no receipt, no warranty.

When I got home I wrestled the hood open, struggled to read what was written on the battery through bleary fever-glazed eyes and saw: Reconditioned written clearly across what they'd installed.

My mechanic urged me to return to Strey's immediately and have them give me my old battery back. I did and after many words and tears and an absolute refusal to leave until they did so-- they did so.
Product_Or_Service: automobile battery installation

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Strey's Auto Repair & Towing LLC needs to refund the $246.72 they charged me for they new battery & installation fee they did not provide or install. I've made a complaint to *** and hope they lose their *** status so that other unwitting customers won't be aggravated, harassed, and overcharged for goods & services they promise but do not render. I called *** and they are withholding payment until this dispute is resolved but I am very concerned others will be mislead in the meanwhile.

Contact Name and Title: MR. and Mrs.A*** owner
Contact Phone: ***
Contact Email: ***
I called *** directly on 1/12/19 and told her we arent questioning anything about her complaint. We told her we had no idea that she didnt get her refund and we sent her refund of $246.72 directly to her *** card the same day. She was also given a receipt and was very happy by the end of our conversation. She wanted me to ask the Revdex.com if there was a web based place she could visit to put in a positive review for our company. Im glad we are able to make a customer happy , that is all we try to do with our business. Thank you, Gerald and Elizabeth A.

when I sold the vehicle I told them as is no warranty no gurrantee on the truck,I gave them the option to have the vehicle looked at before they bought it and they decided against it,during the test drive the truck run and drove no problem and everytime I drothe truck it had no problems,I told the new owner that it was sold as is and I dont know what they did to it after they left but when he took the vehicle it was working fine,I told him he was able to contact the person that had brought it to the auction to see if they would be willing to fix it for them but I wasnt going to couse I didnt warranty the truck,I did lower the price of the vehicle for them ,I also paid for the taxes and the license plates for them,I also found a good transmission for them with a warranty for 400 dollars at joes auto parts in spring lake ,informed them of the price and where it was at and told them I would be willing to help them change the transmission,I met them at the secretary of state where I transferred everything into their name on the truck and they seemed happy with what I paid out of pocket and willing to help them fix the vehicle, which I wasnt actually required to do but im not a person that is going to leave someone stranded or without a solution to their problem when it comes to a vehicle, ive done more than what was required of me to help the customer out and always do,I do believe the trans wouldnt have been an issue with the truck but the way my employee says the way they were test driving the vehicle would explain alot,a 20 year old vehicle comes with no warranty and I was so busy around the time they bought the truck I didnt even have time to put it in the shop to inspect the vehicle they should have taken it somewhere to have it looked at before purchase, instead of begging me to sell it to him for less than what it was listed for,I listed the truck for 2650.00,and ended up selling it to them for 2400 out the door tax title and plates,so well over 500 dollars off the original price of the vehicle

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The owner did meet us secretary of state Only after I contacted him and told him because he was a Car lot He needed to fill out certain paperwork which he committed fraud on by stating we paid him less for the vehicle I do have a bill of sale stating how much We actually paid versus what he notified The state we paid He did not pay out extra for sales tax etc because he wrote a lower Purchase price. He is a car lotand he committed automotive fraud by lying to us about the transmission which we have now had to purchase for $1500 I also have the receipt for this.
