The property manager at XXXXX ***, *** *** called Streamline Plumbing and said he was referred to us by his neighbor and that his 60+ year old sewer was broken and needed to be replaced by the trench-less
method, just like what we did for his neighbor*** *** Owner of Streamline agreed to meet with Mr*** the property manager to give him his sewer replacement estimateUpon arrival Mr*** showed Streamline the broken sewer, sewage had come up out of the ground at the break and covered a 10' x 20' area of the backyard*** had told the property manager that we would replace the sewer line due to the age of the sewer and the fact that there was a forest of trees in the back yard and neighbor's yardHe asked *** what type of pipe he had and *** stated it could be clay pipe which cracks and has a joint every 3'ftand that tree roots get into or it could be orange burg like the neighbors hadHe stated he didn't know for sure because it was undergroundAt that time I gave him the replacement estimate and told him he needed to get permission from the down-hill neighbor for Streamline to enter their yard for replacement of the sewer and access holes for clean outsHe said he would talk to the home owner of *** Ct for permission to replace his sewer line*** left the siteMr*** called the next week and said he had authorization to replace the entire sewer and asked for a referral discount because his neighbor referred him, which *** gave him $off original estimate*** told Mr*** to call him back when he received authorization from neighbor for entry for sewer easementHe called back and said he had permissionAt that point *** let him know we could start job on September and most likely would take daysWe started the job on time and spent the first entire day just power jetting, digging holes at approximately broken sections, the line was completely at the end of its life cycle
Mr*** called *** on the secondary line and said the sewer was clay pipe*** said, "Yes, it is clay"*** also let him know that the pipe was in very bad condition and literally nothing leftThe estimate was for $8,( a great price for all the work involved for a full trench-less replacement), if he wanted spot repairs it would be more like $20,due to all the digging (approxholes - would become open trench spot repairs)*** let him know they could stop the job if that is what he wantedMr*** said give him a minute so he could call the ownerAt the time *** thought that was a little bizarre since he asked for a full trench-less replacement like the neighbor and signed a contract for approx200'ft for $8,In the back of ***'s mind he thought maybe he was trying to pull something but wasn't sure just seemed oddMr*** called back within a few minutes and stated not to stop the job that they have tenants they have to keep living in thereThe owner wants the sewer replaced*** let him know that we would continue working
When we came back the next day and started to workThe neighbor stopped our job for approxhrscommunicating she was not happy that we dug (3) holes (2' x 3') where the line was broken, in addition to another hole for a required clean out in her asphalt walkwayI told her I would repair the asphalt after our customer approved the additional estimate as we included (1) asphalt patch/repair in our original estimate for street and not her walkwayShe said okWhen *** spoke with property manager *** about additional $for second asphalt repair he came unglued and stated we should do that for free because he promised the neighbor we would restore their property to its original condition*** stated that was very nice of him but he would have to pay Streamline extra to be able to do thatHe went on and on and stated he was not going to pay us a dime and hung up
On another note he never mentioned he wanted a video camera taping of the sewer lineIf someone is having problems with their sewer and are not sure if a replacement is needed we offer a FREE video line inspection to see if there's breaks, roots and or the condition of the lineWe do not leave the customer with a tapeIf he wanted a video taping of the line this would have been an extra chargeThere was no mention
In summary, this customer contacted us wanting a trenchless sewer replacement like his neighbor, he signed a contract stating a full replacement, our job was stopped a few times costing us more money, we offered to stop the job completely and he refused the offer and wanted the full replacement, we pulled permits and had necessary inspections, seems to have a neighbor upset with him/us and does not want to pay additional money to have asphalt repaired and it seems is trying to get out of paying us at allWe were there trying to do our job getting this customer a new functional sewer with little disruption to tenants (they did not have to move out), which we upheld our part of the deal with many road blocksIt's been a month and we do not have any payment as of yet, there was no violation on our part just a customer who for some reason feels like all the time and work we did that they should receive a discountWondering if the property owner of this property even knows what's happening hereOur contract that he signed does state payment is due upon sewer installationWe feel the price quoted and agreed upon is a more than fair price due to all the work, extra work and delays we encountered
