I moved out of an apartment that I had leased from a company that owned the apartments. During the latter part of my lease period the complex was sold out to Strategic Holdings. Strategic Holdings insisted on short payng my deposit for "carpet cleaning". I cleaned the carpets before I left and Strategic Holdings states that it is automatically part of their lease agreement which I never signed. I left the apartment in better condition than when I moved in as witnessed by the manager. I signed a lease agreement with the previous owner which had no mention of an automatic carpet cleaning charge. They assumed I would just accept the loss and move on. I notified the apartment manager that I wanted him to contact Strategic Holdings and have them send my remaining balance for the above reasons and they denied the request without recourse.
