Calling plumber is a gross, disgusting mess, from clogged toilets to leaky faucets!!!! BUT since I have used Strait Plumbing for almost 3 years it is less painful from the first phone call! JOYCE in the office was unfortunate enough to answer my call but she was patient, understanding, sympathetic and efficient. She kept me informed through the whole process! She deserves a raise in my opinion!!!
Paul was great, excellent in his customer service skills and well as his plumbing. He finished the job quickly and even cleaned up after!!!!
And the bill, well believe me it was a lot less than I imagined!
I have met the owner, David, and he is all about customer satisfaction and a job well done!!!!!
It was a pleasure talking to you on the phone and we all here at Strait Plumbing are very happy that we meet your satisfaction. We try to please our customer the best we can.
Salesperson tried to sell me toilets instead of plumber finding the problem
On 1/15/18 Strait Plumbing sent a man, "Mike", to my house to investigate my complaint of my toilets plugging intermittently. At the time of his arrival the toilets were not plugged. He told me he could not find a problem and suggested it was that I needed new toilets. He then showed me a catalog of toilets I could chose from. After he left I called a different plumber who determined that the line from my house to the street was full of debris that needed to be flushed out. It was flushed and I have not had any problems since. I did not need new toilets. When I asked Strait Plumbing if Mike, who tried to sell me toilets, was a licensed plumber I was told he didn't have to be as long as the boss was. They charged me $140 for a "salesman" not a licensed plumber to come and show me a catalog of toilets.
I do not think I should have to pay for a salesman, not a licensed plumber, to come to my house and show me a catalog. I want them to close out the bill without payment. I do not want to pay for their service, when no service was provided.
On invoice*** on 12/17/18 *** call in a work order that Joyce/Mike took the call. *** call in that her kids toilet backing up. We had sent out Paul on 12/19/17 and use a K-50 to unclog the toilet. We don't have sale man that go out to the houses. If the customer want to replace there toilet the plumbers have books on there truck to show them. Mike was never at her house on the 12/19/17. I can sent the Invoice in question if you like. When Joyce call *** to found out why she hasn't paid her Invoice, *** said that Mike was trying to sell toilet. Joyce told her we don't send out sale person to home as we don't have any. *** ask if Mike was a license plumber and Joyce told her that we have all experince plumbers and that the only one that needed a license is the owner of Strait Plumbing. We charge for Paul for 1 1/2 hours plus K-50 he use to unclogg her toilet. Mike was never at her house on 12/19/17 Invoice *** I have attach a copy of the Invoice in question. Thanks
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this explanation. If their plumber was experienced why did he fail to notice the line from my house to the street was partially plugged? Why did he suggest I needed new toilets? Why did a different plumbing company, who sent a licensed plumber figure out the problem quickly...without ever trying to sell me toilets?
Our plumbers can only go by what is clog or happening at the time of our service. After we leave a job we can not for see what a customer will throw down there toilet to get it clog again. On the Invoice never said about selling a toilet. Again our plumbers are not sale person. We don't know how all after we were there that she call another plumbing company. We don't know what the other plumbing said or did or did not do. We can only go by what we did that day. It could have been a week or month or a couple of days in between. Alot can happen to the toilet or pipe in between the jobs. *** didn't even know which plumber was at her house.
Two men working for Strait Plumbing came to my home to do a job. In the process they damaged my kitchen counter. When I called the company to report this, David, the owner, pulled the men and although he said he was coming out didn't. I ended up worse than before Strait came into my home--a damaged kitchen counter and the job not done. Joyce in the office essentially called me a liar when I talked to her about the damage, saying the men said they told me it was going to chip the counter when they pulled the DW out and I said do it anyway. I told her they said they were going to glue the pieces back on and she said "her men" would never say anything like that.
Very rude and unethical and the men lied about their qualifications when I asked them. When I asked Joyce she also lied.
We at Strait Plumbing don't do work unless the customer ask us to do. We pull the men after the customer ask us to. The owner never said once on the phone that he was going out there because he knew he had other commitment to do. The customer ask us to pull the men off the job because she said that our guys are not master plumber so yes the job didn't get done as the request of the customer. Joyce did not call her a lair just simply said that both the plumber said that it would chip and ask her if she was calling the plumber lair. Yes our men know not to say anything of the sort to say something like when if we did it the mistake we take care of our mistake. We have a company that would go in there and fix the problem. Joyce was not rude or raise her voice all Joyce keep saying was yes ma'am because that is all Joyce could say with her yelling on the phone and wouldn't let Joyce talk. So don't see how Joyce lied about anything. Strait Plumbing will and always stand by there work and will make what need to right. But when a customer said pull the guys off we did.
Very sorry it's taken so long to reply, I'm a disabled senior citizen w many health issues. The very last thing I want to do is waste anyone's time by filing a complaint that isn't true or is just a very small issue.
If you don't mind I'll just start from the beginning---
My dishwasher that came w the home--1985--finally quit. I got a great deal on a new one but didn't have the funds to get it installed. A friend/acquaintance was aware of this and she had David, the owner of Strait Plumbing doing work in her home, telling me how really great he/Strait was. She then took it upon herself--bless her heart--to tell me she'd talked to David and set up a time/day and he was going to come over and install my new DW and she thought I'd be very happy w the fee. I didn't want to say no to her kindheartedness because it seemed like it'd be a slap in her face.
She'd indicated that David would be here "early" that am--8-830. I got a call a little after 10 from "Dave" saying he and another man were on their way over here and asking some directions. I thought that Dave was David.
They got here and came in bringing no tools. Looking at what needed to be done, one said to the other--well, let's get a wrench and blah, blah, blah. Being a little surprised that they didn't bring in a few basic tools that even I knew would be needed for this, I asked if they were licensed, which is my right. One said he was licensed in NY, but hadn't been here long enough to take the Fl exam. I asked how long he'd been here--5 yrs. He said our exam was too hard--you had to know "all the codes and everything". The other guy also said he "didn't have a Fl license either".
They didn't have a shirt with the plumbing co. name on it or their own names. I had/have no way of knowing who they really are--no name tag around their neck and of course no plumbing license to show me. I felt uncomfortable w all of this, but since they were there and had been sent by a licensed plumbing co--I'd looked it up--to do this job, let them go ahead.
Then when they pulled out my old DW they chipped my kitchen counter--laminate--in 3 places--huge chunks. I saw it as it happened. They said they were very sorry and would find the chips and glue them back on. At that point I went into the other room and called the office, spoke w David telling him what had happened and he said "he'd be right out". I then came out and told the men this and they said fine. I never asked them to leave. What I expected is that they'd stay and the 3 of them would do what needed to be done.
I went into another room to wait for David to arrive. After maybe 30" I came out and the 2 men were gone.
I waited a total of maybe 2 hrs--doing other things--then called the office and spoke w Joyce asking her when David was going to be here? She rudely said that he NEVER said he was coming out, that she'd been sitting right there and heard the whole conversation. I said no, he did say he was coming out. She then told me that David NEVER does "little jobs" like mine, so he wouldn't have said that.
So I said ok, then what is going to be done about my kitchen cabinets being chipped? Joyce said her men said they didn't do that. when I told her that they'd said they were going to glue the pieces back on, she said her men would never say anything like this.
My nephew is a master plumber in another Fl county. He was appalled about all of this. He said he knows exactly what happened, that the men were just too lazy to get on their backs and lower the legs on the old DW, to get it to slide out wo damaging my counter, that when all dishwashers are installed, the plumber slides them into the space, then raises the little metal legs on the bottom of all DWs to fit that particular counter.
He also said by law I could insist they--Strait-- come back and finish the job they started. Of course I'm afraid to do that--they've already done damage that they--Joyce--won't acknowledge and I don't feel I can trust the competence of the men--Joyce already said that the licensed plumber--David (her husband)--won't do a simple job like mine. There was not an ugly word between the men who were here and myself on either side--they seemed like decent guys, just lazy or incompetent. They honestly felt bad about what had been done. But Joyce is another story--she was very ugly and rude to me from the very beginning--not any ok, let's figure out what happened and get this worked out for all. Just lies on her part about what "her men" did or didn't say or do. There were 3 people here and she wasn't one of them. I really don't believe the men that were here lied to her--I think they owned up to what happened and she and David decided that Strait wasn't going to own up and make things right.
I'd like to send pics of the damage--not sure how to do that.
Thank you Candace N
Mrs N took too long because she trying every way to just to justified her telling my guys to pull the dishwasher out. She try calling a lawyer and that didn't work out for her and so is back trying to do something else. If you read the first complain she said that my guys lie about there license and now on this statement she said they had no plumbing license to show. Now she saying she disabled senior citizen when she never said that before and she said that she had the money to pay for anything and she didn't know why her friend/acquaintance would pay for her. We never give a time when we come out to a house. We get in the office at 8am and do the scheduling than our truck don't leave the shop until 8:30am til 9:00 am and she never call the office to ask for a service call her friend/acquaintance. The customer ask us to pull the guys off the job because they were not license plumbers so David pull the guys off and than she call the office to ask when David was coming and Joyce was sitting right there when David was talking to her and telling her that he was just doing what she ask and that he couldn't make it out there that day. We do go back on job if we needed to be and if we make a mistake or if something needed to be fix. We just don't back because we don't want too. We don't run a business like that. Joyce never said that David don't do simple job like that. David goes out in the field and work the jobs too. Joyce said that that day David was already committed to other things that day. She demanded that he come right now. For her nephew to make assumptions when he wasn't here like she said the only people that were there were her and our two guys. Our guys are not lazy and they do what the customers ask and that is why our guys did call the office before they left her house. Joyce went on what her men told her what happen and Joyce went on that fact. She can send the picture if she wants too but it doesn't do anything she is the one that ask the guys to remove the dishwasher even after they told her what would happen.
Dear Revdex.com:
Thank you for taking time w this. I just skimmed the reply from Strait Plumbing because it starts off w lies and is very hard to read.
I AM a disabled senior citizen. There are many of us. Strait says that NOW I say that--I had no reason to ever say it before.
I reported them to an agency we have in Fl--Crimes Against Seniors--or something similar. The man that contacted me asked questions and being a disabled senior citizen came up. BTW he believed me.
What I said in my complaint to you is true. I have no reason to make anything up. I don't want anything from Strait. This all could've turned out differently if I'd been treated w even a little respect on the phone. Instead I was called a liar and lied to and you know the rest.
Thru-out all of this I've NEVER wanted anything from Strait. I reported them to you because they deserved it.
For them to say I spoke w a lawyer is ludicrous. Again, more lies about me, and for what?
I really want this to the end of all of it. I can't remember the last time I've been so attacked by anyone. And these are people I let into my home for a service.
Again, thank you for your time. My story will never change because it's the truth, and they'll keep up w the same and more lies--e.g. I had called a lawyer.
To be perfectly honest I don't want to let anyone else into my home ever again. I'm 66 yrs old and I've NEVER had anything like this happen--the vicious attacking and lying. Pretty hard to believe how far the ugliness has gone over an incident that should've been next to nothing.
Respectfully,
Candace N
