Killer Shark Marketing displayed carelessness/negligence which in turn cause our business a loss in revenue.
Killer Shark Marketing, LLC have shown little interest in taking responsibility and show little interest in rectifying the situation as described below:

On March 20th 2018 we were made aware that Killer Shark Marketing, LLC acquired Web Design by Jason. Prior to the acquisition, we contracted Web Design by Jason to create a simple website, host the website and maintain the website. We were on a very inexpensive monthly plan of $50 per month and our business was very young with a very limited budget.

Killer Shark Marketing, LLC met with us shortly after the acquisition, upped the monthly fee to $200 and pushed us in the direction of $1500 per month for Pay Per Click advertising. Our company at this time was less than two years old. We were not structured to handle the PPC leads when times were good and could not afford the monthly bill when lead flow was slow. We were simply too young of a company and Killer Shark's greed did not allow them to see this fact. In this time, Killer Shark Marketing, LLC designed a very visually appealing website, in exchange for ongoing PPC advertising. We did not ask for a new site, this was their attempt to create a website that would work with the newly pushed PPC advertising.

After several months, we decided to break ways with the PPC advertising and resort back to the original web hosting services as originally contracted with Web Design by Jason. We simply could not afford the new acquisition and in the initial meeting with Killer Shark Marketing we were told that Killer Shark Marketing would honor the original agreement with Web Design by Jason. In the end they were unwilling to honor the original agreement.

During the PPC advertising campaigns, Killer Shark Marketing installed tracking phone numbers throughout our website in order to track the aforementioned marketing and different functions that allow customers to call. This created unbelievable confusion with customers trying to reach us, especially via text message. I very distinctly recall asking *** over the phone to remove the false numbers.

On November 19th 2018, the numbers were still not removed and I then sent a text message where I explained the problems we were having with customers and requested the false numbers to be removed immediately. I was told that they were removed, however it took months to realize they had not been removed.

In December of 2018, *** sent me a text stating they will be relinquishing the site to us because our business was not interested in continuing the PPC advertising. We had no idea how to host a website, use SquareSpace, and maintain the website which is the reason for originally contracting Web Design by Jason.

Killer Shark Marketing acquired a company (Web Design by Jason) and clients that did not fit their "core business" and kicked us to the curb. We were given ownership of our website with zero handover, zero training, no written offers for training. We are NOT web designers. It took months just to figure out how to add photos and a year and a half to sort through custom coding that we were stuck with just to create and add a new page to the website. This alone is appalling but we decided to remain quiet until we realized how badly we had been screwed nearly 1.5 years later.

The worst part of the experience came on Feb 25th 2020 - almost 1.5 years later. We had a customer reach out late at night to let us know that there were incorrect and non-working numbers on the click to call feature of the website! This feature was unknown to us as we did not design the site nor understand the functionality of the platform.

We believe that we were left with a partially dysfunctional website that took 1.5 years to figure out. We have spent thousands of dollars on advertising and directed potential customers to our site and the click to call feature dialed a non-working tracking number. We believe this negligence has caused us a significant loss of leads and in turn a loss

Desired Outcome

We believe this company set us up for failure and when they could not make thousands of dollars per month from our young company they kicked us to the curb with a partially dysfunctional website. We feel that we have potentially lost tens of thousands of dollars due to their carelessness. We would like to be refunded every penny spent with this company as their services have likely hurt us more than they have helped.

Storm + Savage Marketing Response • Mar 03, 2020

In March 2018 our firm acquired a website hosting business in NE Florida. Among the clients acquired in that transaction was the complainant. At the time, his website was being hosted on a server but there was no marketing being performed. Because our expertise is in marketing, this individual determined that we were well suited to begin advertising his relatively unknown company; he subsequently engaged us to perform marketing services in June 2018. We used a variety of strategies to elevate his online presence including content writing, SEO, directories cleanup, GMB optimization, and Google Adwords. We determined that his existing website would be inadequate. However, the complainant expressed an inability to afford and upgrade his website, so we decided to build him a free website. This is not part of our business model. We genuinely wanted to help this individual grow his company out of its infancy and into a thriving endeavor. In October 2018 we designed and built a modern website at no cost - 100% FREE. We began to experience difficulty with this client and by December 2018, we determined that we would release the complainant as a client. It was simply not a good fit for us. At this juncture, rather than revert him to his old website, we gifted him the new website. We held no ill will towards this man, we just wanted to move on from the Vendor Client relationship. He was given a $5000 website at no cost to him. We were contacted 14 months later to say that we hadn't done something? He was given ownership rights to the website on December 21, 2018 and complainant acknowledged full access and ownership at that time. Then 14 months later he has still not maintained or updated his website (or paid to have it maintained/updated). To be clear, he was gifted a website as-is. We bear no responsibility for his lack of diligence and failures to properly and routinely optimize this website. We have been in business since 2007 and continue today with positive client relationships throughout the country. It is unfortunate that in this case, "no good deed goes unpunished."

Customer Response • Mar 06, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This company failed to perform with advertising and each time we brought this to their attention they would tell us they were essentially using our budget to learn our industry and required more money. It was made clear to us that at that time they had only experience with the medical industry.

The problems arose when we asked for clarification about the specifics of the budget. We would ask specific questions - and we have email documentation to validate this claim - about the budget, where and how it was being spent and our questions were simply ignored. As time went on we felt they were trying to extract every penny they could as both parties knew it was coming to an end.

In the final days of the relationship we continued to press Killer Shark about the spending - wondering where the money went and why were were not even close to acheiving a return on investment. It was at this time they released us.

We feel this company had no business using our limited funds to learn marketing in the construction industry especially since their only experience - as *** clearly explained to us - was with marketing for dentistry and the medical industry.

We feel that we are entitled to a full refund as they were not qualified, miss led us and failed to produce the results promised.

Storm + Savage Marketing Response • Mar 16, 2020

The remarks by the complainant are patently false and misrepresent our level of expertise. In short, we have well over one hundred non-medical clients, 50% of which are in northeast Florida. Healthcare represents less than 20% of our total client roster so the suggestion that our expertise is solely in that vertical is false. Having said that, we will no longer react or reply on Revdex.com to remarks by this individual.
