To the RevDex.com, Thank you so much for supplying us with the information from this customer. We appreciate your efforts to assist in the communication process related to this complaint. This customer requested settlement on several matters. Please allow us to address each... individually. In regards to the request related to misleading security ads and flawed building design please note that we have forwarded this information to our IT department so they can research the concerns and our Maintenance Coordinator is scheduled to visit the Anaheim property next week to look at the gaps that were reported. Regarding the concern related to a report being filed but not followed up on. It is our understanding that this customer has filed a report with the police. We have received copies of the customer’s statement to the police, which was appreciated, however we have not received a police report filed by an investigating officer. It would be very helpful if this police report could be supplied to us. When an incident like this is reported at one of our facilities and the police are contacted, Storage West is willing to share relevant surveillance information with the investigating police department to aid in their investigation. Unfortunately, we have not been contacted by the police department and asked to assist in their investigation at this time. Our District Manager has been in communication with this customer regarding this same information. We hope to hear back from the customer to continue with this discussion and we also hope to receive the necessary documents from the police department regarding the incident so that we may comply with any requests they have related to an investigation. Thanks again for allowing us to provide feedback related to this matter. It is our hopes that we can come to a resolution.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
1. The storage facility was 1st contacted on 5/24/2015by me about burglaries and thefts occurring at their Storage West facility located at: 1628 S. Anaheim, Way, Ana, CA 92805 It is now almost 1 month later and nothing but excuses and lies. 2. I never gave them any report that I gave the police; it would interfere with the police investigation, so that is another lie. I gave them in brief, what I noticed related to the burglaries and thefts, and in very, very brief form, about 1 % of what was stolen. 3. The business still has misleading gate hours POSTED AS 7 am to 7 pm WHICH IS FALSE. THEY NEED TO ALERT CONSUMERS THERE IS 24 HOURS GATE ACCESS for some customers on their GATE SIGNS. Also, once someone is already inside behind the GATEAS, THEY CAN GET OUT NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT IS meaning way past 7 pm. 4. They need to correctly instead of falsely inform consumers that "onsite managers" means not for renters after hours but for corporate office contacts, instead of misleading consumers with their ads that the place is secure for the renter because if there is a problem there is an onsite manager. Yeah, there is an onsite manager,...that part is true. What is untrue is that once the office is closed, the onsite manager is off duty, does not lock up the storage buildings, does not patrol the storage buildings and is not accessible to the storage renter.5. They need to have a sign on their building or gates warning consumers their STORAGE BUILDINGS ARE LEFT UNLOCKED 7 DAYS A WEEK, 24 HOURS A DAY, instead of advertising the premises are safe and secure. 6. They need to have posted either on their webpage in plain view where any body can see, or a sign in their facility's office on the storage buildings that "THERE ARE NO SECURITY SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS INSIDE THE STORAGE BUILDINGS WHERE THE STORAGE UNITS ARE KEPT"; instead of misleading the public with deceitful ads and statements of SECURITY CAMERAS THROUGHOUT THE PREMISES (a lie). 7. The District Manager [redacted] is untruthful; he told his manager ([redacted]) at the Anaheim branch not to give the Anaheim Police Dept. any police requested security camera surveillance video footage. This was told to me by the manager [redacted]. When I asked why would LAACO and his boss (the District Manager [redacted]) not cooperate with what the police requested, I was told by [redacted] that his boss ([redacted]) said it invaded the other customer's privacy that may have entered/exited the premises. I was also told by manager [redacted] that he was told not to get involved in any burglary/theft I reported to him and that he could get fired just for talking to me. Then manager [redacted] told I had to wait 1 week for the PT employee named [redacted] to come back to work, for Storage west to take any kind of burglary/theft report, since he said he couldn't get involved (per his boss he told me). That meant from 5/25/2015 I had to wait until 6/1/2015 before I could even get any Storage West employee to talk to me about what was stolen and related and that was an incident report taken by a Storage west employee that only worked 2 days per week at that Anaheim branch (storage facility). My 20 or more calls from 5/25/2015 and still continuing, for STORAGE WEST owners (the [redacted]s) aka LAACO (Los Angeles Athletic Club) corporate office to call me back has not yet happened and at all times has been ignored. 8. I sent at least 3 e-mails to LAACO owners [redacted] & [redacted], and to District Manager [redacted] informing them that their storage renter at the Anaheim, CA facility, that rents unit E[redacted] and has the name of [redacted] was seen by my storage unit the day after IO reported thefts, then 2 days later with some of my stolen items in his parked car at the Anaheim Storage west facility and that this storage renter E423 [redacted] is a career burglar and has had an outstanding arrest bench warrant on him. I even listed the criminal court cases he has linked to him for burglaries and thefts. How did LAACO, [redacted], Storage West responded --!!!! They still rent the storage unit to him. They still allow him to burglarize, break into and steal belongings from the other storage units. They still KEEP THE BUILDINGS UNLOCKED AT ALL TIMES. THEY STILL HAVE NOT GIVEN THE POLICE ANY SECURITY CAMERA VIDEOS NOR ANY GATE ACTIVITY LOGS that would help the police get evidence to convict this felon further for the thiefs he did at their Anaheim facility. LAACO, dba STORAGE WEST could care less about its renters as long as it gets money from them and new customers. LAACO, [redacted], STORAGE WEST HAS HINDERED AND INTERFERRED WITH POLICE INVESTIGATIONS, HAS DRAGGED ITS FEET IN DOING ANYTHING AT ALL FORCING ME TO CONTACT VARIOUS AGENCIES (consumer & govt.) TO COMPLAIN.9. LAACO, dba STORAGE West has CONFLICT OF INTERESTS involvements. It advertises safe and secure public self-storage units for rent. Then their contracts state they aren't responsible for anything. Then they also force new customers/renters to BUY RENTERS INSURANCE FROM THEM. THEY SAY THE RENTERS INSURANCE IS NEEDED IN THE EVENT OF BURGLARY OR THEFT. Then they allow the burglaries & thefts and leave the doors wide open for the criminals to come and go as they please. They (LAACO, dba Storage West) makes money by not securing their storage facilities and by enticing burglars and thieves to steal from the facility's unlocked storage buildings, as a reason RENTERS INSURANCE IS INDEED NEEDED. ITS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST and money making scheme. 10. They started renting to burglar/thief [redacted] (E423) either in March or April 2015. He's had months and moths of free reign to steal of storage units other storage customers. It is now 6/18/2015. Instead of cooperating with me, the victim or helping me in any way, LAACO, dba Storage West, via its District Manager [redacted] has been nothing but deceitful, uncooperative and untruthful. Nothing but excuses and lies have I been given from the. 11. I went to Storage West (Anaheim, CA branch) on Monday 6/15, 2015. The criminal burglar still had his unit E[redacted] there with them. None of the 1st floor units were secured nor any carpentry repairs to fix the 2 feet wood beam gaps above and over the 1st floor storage units that allowed the illegal entries/exits by burglars/thieves ([redacted] A. [redacted], et al). INSTEAD, LAACO, dba STORAGE WEST SPENT MONEY NOT SECURING THE PLACE, BUT POLISHING AND WAXING THEIR INSIDE BUILDING'S FLOORS !!! 12. LAACO & STORAGE WEST think they don't have to secure their buildings from burglaries and thefts BECAUSE THEY MADE CUSTOMERS SIGN CONTRACTS THAT STATE THE CUSTOMER CANNOT FILE ANY CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM (the company) AND SIGN CONTRACTS THAT STATE THE STORAGE AND PREMISES IS "AS IS" and the COMPANY HAS ZERO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE INCURRED.13. So, almost 1 month later, burglaries still continue; the management was given the Anaheim Police criminal case number as far back as 5/25/2015 and again and again thereafter. The PT employees named [redacted] & [redacted] swear they gave the PD case number to the corporate office. I know I also did at least 5 times in my at least 20 phone calls and at least 3 times in 3 separate e-mails, and where has it lead !?! With STORAGE WEST (LAACO) giving more excuses, lies and misleading information/responses.

We appreciate you notifying us of this complaint. We value the important role that the Revdex.com plays in maintaining an ethical marketplace. At Storage West, we take pride in providing a quality a storage experience for our tenants and our parent company's 130 year tradition of customer service.
Any report of theft at our facilities is disappointing and is taken very seriously. We do our best to prevent theft; and, at this facility, we have fences, an on-site manager, lighting, security cameras, and a computerized gate access system to monitor access to the storage units. We have the utmost confidence that our facility staff is honest and dedicated to customer satisfaction. We have no reason to believe that any of our staff was involved in the reported theft.
This facility does not have a theft problem. It is unusual that only one unit, of 642 units at the facility, was allegedly broken into. In the Phoenix Police Department Report of the incident, the facility manager reported to the police officer that the victim's reaction while reporting the alleged break in seemed, "very unusual and rehearsed, or even staged".
Additionally, although our tenant's name is provided on the Revdex.com complaint, the contact information, and the language used in the complaint, is that of another person who is not our tenant. That other person (whose email address appears on the Revdex.com complaint) has impersonated our tenant in the past and is the one who is pursuing this claim. Due to the unusual circumstances of this claim, and the outrageous accusations being made by this other individual,
Storage West has engaged local legal counsel to represent us.
We are willing to arbitrate this incident under our Dispute Resolution Program with our tenant, or with this person if he provides a notarized Power of Attorney from our tenant authorizing him; but, the individual has yet to provide the necessary authorization. We ask the Revdex.com to please confirm the true identity of the individual who filed this complaint before proceeding.
Thank you again for notifying us of this complaint. We are actively working towards a fair and appropriate resolution.
To begin with we would like to thank this customer for their long term business with us and we regret the issues that they are experiencing with the website. We have been attempting to communicate with the customer...
to get more information regarding the problem with access. We still need some additional info such as the IP address used for access, and what browser and device is being used. We are working through the problem on our end but need that information. The website is not down across the board so we need to isolate the cause of the issue. In regards to the late charges these should have been reversed already due to the issue with the website being inaccessible to the customer. We are happy to take a payment by phone while this issue is being resolved. We would appreciate a call from the customer so that we could help with that. Our rental contract does outline the procedure for when a unit may be auctioned for non-payment however this situation does not apply as the customer was not able to make payment via the internet. We just ask that the customer give us a call so that we can settle the account over the phone. Thank you.

To Whom it may concern,
Storage West is a crook organization. Only their staff could of ripped off my assets or someone they allowed to gain access. My associate and I walked the premises to locate security cameras and did not find any the day the rip off was discovered. Then when we asked the manager about the cameras he stated there weren't any but they would be installing them that same day. The manager also stated other units had been broken into and that they had previously allowed some shady characters to rent their unit. Also when asked to produce the video of their staff ripping off my assets they couldn't produce them.
I don't know how a human being is suppose to act when discovering all of their valuables have been rip off from them but the fact a company claiming to be in business 130 years, you would think they would have mastered any theft and at least be able to produce to the police and the victim security camera footage of the burglary. Any individual or organization that have been providing a service for 130 years should be masters of their art or service. My unit sits just out side the managers office and home on-sight but of course I suppose they will say the management wasn't home, we'll where's the security camera video and why did they not supply it to the police? I'll tell you why, because they didn't have the cameras installed until after they ripped me off.
No I do not accept this un ethical business practice from Storage West. I will take this matter to arbitration and the Attorney General as soon as time permit. The hell with these crooks.

Review: false, misleading ads, breach of or misleading contract, misleading customer service and advertised procedures.
1. Their ads state security via security cameras throughout premises and onsite managers. This is misleading. There are no cameras inside storage buildings; the onsite managers are off duty (not available to customers) after the office is closed. Their ads state gate hours but omits there is 24 hours 7 days a week access, unlocked storage buildings at all times, so gate hours misleads and unlocked buildings misleads the public on how secure the facilities are when renting and storing belongings and entering into and signing any contract.
2. Their website statements of CRIME EVENTA &/or REPORTS or DISPUTE PROCEDURES are outright lies and isn't the actual customer service or business to customer procedures as advertised.
3. Their rental contracts say one thing about security; you find out later it is just the opposite and no notice of changes in security is ever given in writing, prior to finding your things stolen, a breach in their security due to security changes you are never informed of. Such as: Storage West never informed regular customers like me that their storage buildings are always kept unlocked, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. My contract states the storage buildings are locked after and during closed office hours. After I found my inside storage unit burglarized 2 times in less than 1 week, I was informed there is 24 hour access unlocked buildings, informed for the 1st time on 5/25/2015. I let the facility know years prior this was the type of stuff I stored there and I was mislead by the business that their buildings were kept security, video cameras throughout and if a problem, contact onsite manager(s). Then on 5/25/2015 I find out after my confidential, personal records, such as Social Security mailings and records, my CA DMV records, my bank records, my MEDICAL RECORDS, etc., STOLEN, that is was false ads, etc !Desired Settlement: (a.) Quit the misleading security ads like videos throughout premises (not true) onsite managers (so what, when office is closed they are off duty), etc. Fix flawed building design features that is allowing burglaries on inside; cover up the gaps above and over the 1st floor storage units that a burglar can enter through easily from the hallways. Putting wire mesh partially BELOW WOOD BEAMS DOES NOTHING; THE SPACE IS STILL THERE, NOT COVERED.
(b.) Put security cameras inside storage buildings if the business is going to have 24 hour 7 days a week building access with unlocked doors, unlocked all the time;
(c.) Or else stop having the 24 hour 7 days a week building access with unlocked doors, and lock the buildings after the office is closed, like what my contract with them said they did.
(d.) Have onsite manager(s) take a burglary theft report as soon as such is reported, on the same day, instead telling customers like me to wait 5-7 days for a part-time employee to take any report

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
1. The storage facility was 1st contacted on 5/24/2015by me about burglaries and thefts occurring at their Storage West facility located at: 1628 S.
