Review: [redacted] and [redacted] Contracted Stoneybrook Services, LLC, Roanoke to build an addition to our home in 2011. The addition involving new roofing for the new additional living area.Stoneybrook Services, LLC verbally agrees (good gentlemen agreement) during contract signing that the new roof will be free of leaking. Stoneybrook Services, LLC will fix any leaking defects. The project was completed in Sept 2010, following year, we found water leaking into the newly re-modeling bathroom after strong storms. Water marking (de-colorization) on bathroom ceiling is obvious and degrees of wetness is also obvious. Stoneybrook Services, LLC came and try to rectrify the problem twice, once in 2012 summer and once in 2013 spring. Leaking after strong storm remains. Stoneybrook Services, LLC now refuses to fix the leak and claims warranty period has ended. Stoneybrook Services, LLC does not offer solution, suggustion, corrective action to fix the leak. We believe Stoneybrook Services, LLC has not fullfiled their promise. Bad business practice.Desired Settlement: We would like Stoneybrook Services, LLC to look for solution to fix the leak. Stoneybrook Services, LLC should hire professional to find and resolve the leaking solution.

Response:
Mr and Mrs [redacted] contracted me to build an additon, as they stated. The project was completed in Sept. 2010. In the written contract it was clearly stated that there was a one year material and workmanship warranty on the project. I recieved calls from the [redacted]s and inspected the roof for leaks on two occasions, both times after the warranty period had ended. Both times leaks had occured after heavy storms with high winds. On the last visit, we found that a plastic roof vent had deteriorated and was cracking around it's perimeter. I replaced it at no charge. We also cleaned his gutters while we were there, at no charge. He called me again last week to return, again after a heavy storm. My response to him was that I had no one availible and that he should contact a roofing company to look at it. I think I have done more than I was required to by law or any other measure to do. It is no longer in warranty. Sincerely; Galen D. Morris, Owner Stoneybrook Services, LLC

Response:
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I don't accept the response because the installation does not meet the requirement of the contract. It does not pass the test of a strong storm which might come once a year. Indeed the roof leaks only after strong storm, that means there is defect in workmanship. I don't believe I need to find another roof expert to fix the defect I got from the original installation. This is a defect and is not normal wear and tear. Regards,[redacted]
