Stone Ridge Cleaning

Review: Stone Ridge Cleaning (SRC) is a housecleaning service based in Kerhonkson, NY. We contracted for one afternoon per week, at $120 per week. SRC required payment for the month for the number of days (i.e., number of Fridays) of cleaning that month, in our case, due on the first Friday of each month. For September 2013 our payment for $480 was deposited on September [redacted]. The following week, Stone Ridge Cleaning claimed not to have received payment, that the check must have been "lost", could I please deliver a replacement check. I did. The replacement check was posted September [redacted]. On October [redacted], we went to put a stop payment on the "lost" check, and found it had already been posted September [redacted]. We cancelled further housekeeping, and asked for repayment of the overcharge. Over the phone and via email, Stone Ridge Cleaning confirmed receiving double payment, but refused to return the money, offering additional cleaning instead.Desired Settlement: I would like to be repaid the $480 overcharge. Given that this is a housecleaning service, and the service is not trustworthy, I do not want Stone Ridge Cleaning to have access to my house. The offer of additional work hours in lieu of cash repayment is not reasonable.
