Upon receiving the notification of Mr[redacted]'s concerns
from the Revdex.com, one of our owners, [redacted] contacted Mr[redacted] and
offered to come check his septic system and video camera the inlet and outlet
lines in the septic tank. Video line
inspection is not
usually included as part of a septic inspection, but given
Mr[redacted]'s concerns we felt offering this option to him as a courtesy seemed
the right thing to do. Mr[redacted] accepted
and the two met on Wednesday, September 16th, at Mr[redacted]'s
house. Together they checked both the
inlet and outlet lines with the camera and used the sonde (locator) in the
camera head to locate the distribution box.
They tried to uncover the D-box but, as our inspector noted in his
report, found the soils to be full of rocks, making the digging very
difficult. After getting down about two
feet, they decided to position the camera in the D-box and run water into the
system to see how the field took the flow.
Once they had a good solid flow into the field they shut the water off
and the level of liquid in the D-box dropped back rapidly, indicating good flow
into the field
[redacted] also checked the concern Mr[redacted] had with the outlet
baffle and agreed that this item should have been flagged for replacement
during the inspection. It was probably
functioning properly, but it was angled badly sideways in the tank and pitched
up somewhat as it came into the tank.
Given that we missed this item on the inspection, which would have
allowed Mr[redacted] to make the previous owner correct the issue, Richard
agreed to install a new outlet baffle and fill in a small area in the wall of
the tank not covered by the current tank cover with concrete at no charge to
Mr[redacted]. This work was completed
later that afternoon and a picture of the completed work was emailed to Mr
[redacted]
We now believe we have addressed Mr[redacted]'s concerns to
his satisfaction and thank him for his patience as we worked through the
issues. We hope to have the opportunity
to serve him again at some point in the future
