Very personable guy came out and gave a competitive quote for tree removal. I accepted the quote and there were delays due to equipment I was told. Finally, ON THE DAY they arrived to remove 30' pin oak, owner looked at tree and proceeded to say they couldn't do the job and the quote was wrong. It would be nowhere near my signed quote and estimate. Got a call the next day saying they wouldn't do the job. I have 5 other quotes around same price so I will move on. Never had a contractor pull out of a job like that. I get that he felt it was too big for his company, but no offer to try and remedy the situation, offer a discount on other work I needed or anything. Strongly recommend going elsewhere for your tree trimming or removal needs. And to always get references.

Requested estimate from SMD Tree Service and received a very reasonable one the same day. Despite freezing temperatures the SMD owner and crew arrived as scheduled and quickly attacked removal of three trees. SMD arranged for removal of electrical power line and cable TV/internet line to facilitate removal of a "monster" maple tree very near our house. All trees were removed quickly and safely, area cleanup was also accomplished to full satisfaction. SMD are true professionals, will hire them for all future tree services.
