Dear *** ***,I'm responding to the complaint from *** * *** about my business andselling practices.When Mr*** first came in he was interested in slabs of RhodochrositeIpulled the box of old stock Rhodochrosite and let him high grade a bunch of mysmall slabsI priced out every
cab he picked out and said he would take all$worth.Mr*** then said he wanted us here at Stewart's to cut "all" the slabs intocabochons and to cut at our discretion the size and shapeHe would then makethe mounting for each stoneOn our lob envelope #*** dated 9-4-it isclearly marked the price of $for the lot of slabs and also written on theorder the cost of $per cabochonA $deposit was made at that timewhich is standard procedure for any custom jobAt that time Mr*** was given his yellow copy that does state each cabochon would cost $each to cut and finish.From that information he should have known the cost right from the startI hadone employee on this one job for two days solidCutting cabochons takes time,and paying him for just this one job cost my business money.At the time of this same order, Mr*** also wanted two more cabochonscut out of his own wood, and wanted a piece of his other slab to be cut into threemore cabochons.After all the cabochons were finished I called him and told him that his order wasfinished and ready to be picked upWhen Mr*** came in he wassurprised at the cost and said that he would not pay for themI'm having a hardtime understanding his cost shock as he was told how much each cabobhonwould cost and all the information was stated on his copy, and then just to tell methat he would not pay for the cabochonsIf he was surprised at the total cost.maybe he should have paid for how many cabochons he could affordThat wouldhave been a better way for him to order this jobNow I have cut up all my choiceRhodochrosite slabswhich were not paid forWhen Mr*** paid the$deposit knowing that he would be good for the rest of the order.At this point he insisted that l give him the five cabochons out of his material andI knew then that l probably would never see him again as he said he wasn't goingto pay for the Rhodochrosite or the cabochonsAfter he said that he wasn't goingto pay, a red light went off in my head to hang onto his cabochons as collateralfor a job that he ordered and until we worked out a fair price for both of us.Later told him I would make him a better price, which I did on 9-10-15invoice#It was 9-13-when he came back into the store and put $"ROA"payment with his credit cardMr*** then wanted me to give him the fivecabs out of his material, but then I would have left out of the part of all the laborand for the choice Rhodochrosite.On invoice #itemized all the cabs at a reduced prices from $to$eachAdditional charge of $to slab one piece of Rhodochrosite intotwo slabsAlso noted the original price of $for the Rhodochrosite slabs.Total with tax came to $His payment of $deposit, and another$"ROA" payment leaving a balance of $The $was for aprevious job #*** which he picked uoMr*** paid for the material.which was a rough piece of petrified woodFour cabochons were cut for job#*** he paid for the material but not the labor.I have tried to work with Mr*** to resolve this matterI called him and hewas out of town at the moment and when he gets back and ready to talk he willcall to schedule a time to trv and work this matter out.We have been in business over years and are not out to swindle ourcustomersIf anything, we want to keep our customers happy to keep themcoming back for many more yearsNot saying we are perfect and every once inblue moon things happen, as we are also humanWe aren't in business to tryand blackmail anyone, never have beenBottom line we want happy customersand want customers to keeo enjoying our oroducts for many years to come.RegardsEugene S*Stewart's Gem Shoo Inc
Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***Gene (Owner of Stewart's gem shop) an myself set up a meeting this morning, Thur Nov 12th The both of us we're able to come to a mutual agreement and resolution to this complaintGene released to me the cabachon stones that I had already paid for that he was holdingAt this point he offered me the opportunity to accept 5eaRhodochricte cabochons (of my choice) from the lot he had cut when the dispute/complaint beganI agreed to this, we shook hands and both parties are in agreement that this transaction (#***) is now complete w/ both sides coming to an acceptable compromise to bring it to close.I cant say that either of us are ecstatic about the end outcomeWhat I can say, is that Gene in the end did his best to work out/compromise with me as business men so that we can put this nonsense aside and move onI thank him for thatI thank the Revdex.com for overseeing and assisting with both parties to work together to come to a mutual solution to this issue.
