Since this group took over, everything has gone downhill.
First of all, you can never get through to actually speak with someone. The recording on the phone says to use the patient portal to send messages and make appointments. Those options don't work. You can type a message and send it to your doctor, but the doctor and the staff never see it because they are not permitted to access a patient's record until the patient either comes in or calls. I have never experienced such inefficiency before. My PCP at Cleveland Clinic always responds to messages, or for a prescription refill. I had an MRI done recently. The staff there were all wonderful, and I was able to see the report later that evening. I saw my doctor 3 days later, and he said he would recommend a procedure that would help. So I waited and waited to hear something about this procedure. By the 4th day, I called my doctor's office to ask why I hadn't heard from my insurance or the hospital. I was told that the radiologist had refused to help me and his excuse. I was devastated. It was 'take your pain pills and rest.' I can barely walk now, live alone and have a home to take care of. I don't have the luxury of being able to just lay around and do nothing while under the influence of narcotics. They didn't offer names of other doctors so I could get a second opinion. So I went online to look up the procedure, and I couldn't find anything regarding the reason the radiologist refused treatment. When I called the radiology department where I had the MRI to see how I could obtain the films and reports, somehow my call went to billing, and the woman told me those weren't kept at the facility, they were released to the ordering doctor. I called again, and got a different person, and she said I had to call the hospital to obtain my records. !?! At least she gave me the phone number. So I called and nobody was available to answer the phone. I left a message and I've been waiting now for 3 hours for someone to call me back. I also called my doctor's office, but I know they won't call me back. I've tried to call 2 more times, only to get put through to an answering machine that nobody monitors. And who suffers when stuff like this happens? The patient. The patient who pays these mns for help. These big companies that come in and take over really make a mess, no wonder Steward is in trouble. Cutting staff is their first priority due to their greed and that results in frustrated employees from the highest to the lowest paid. If you can stay away from any Steward run facility, do it. They aren't the only ones around.

My husband is one of their doctors
I’ve been looking for a new internist since Covid. My doctor was great but after Covid she barely touches you. I too am a physician ( retired) and few this is bad medicine. The doctor I left was a health first doc but my spouse referred me to Dr Michelle Yates . I had no trouble calling and getting an appointment and found her to be very conscientious. She saw me on 6/6/23 and ordered some lab work. She followed up on the 15th with the lab results. On the 6th she asked if I needed any meds filled. I told her no and that I know to call 4-5 days before running out.she said she would see me in 6 months unless there was a problem. I tried contacting her office about a Rx I was having problems getting filled and the girl I spoke to did not seem medically trained. Finally my husband DrEthan A Webb called the medicine in for me and after waiting on Dr Yates staff for over a week he got it called in and filled within 2 hours. My husband works as an internist for Steward medical group. I also called in the 3rd week after seeing Dr Yates only to leave numerous messages that were not returned. My husband (Dr Webb) called Dr Yates office the second week 3 times even leaving a message that he was calling from Dr to Dr which takes priority. He never received a call back.Her staff was totally unprofessional and unhelpful. My husband contacted Julie Carroll who supervises a number of office managers.She was supposed to call me ( I have met her in person before but I am not impressed ). She reached out to Tammy, Dr Yates office manager and told her to call me after my husband telling her that he too was having problems with the staff. A Medical Assistant called me and I told her I needed to speak to Tammy the office manager. I refused to speak to the MA because she was part of the problem. Finally when Tammy got on the phone she had an attitude. She contradicted everything Dr Yates told me. Yates was on vacation until July 5. No one ever called my husband’s office to see if he needed something or if it could wait a few days for Dr Yates. They argued with me . Dr Yates seemed pleasant and thorough and I was relieved to have found a good doctor who is not afraid to lay her hands on patients since Covid. I was told by Julie Carroll that she would be having a meeting with Yates, herself and Tammy, the office manager. I told Julie that Tammy did not follow her orders to call me. Apparently Julie Carroll is not an efficient leader and probably needs to be removed from a supervisor position as does Tammy.Julie told me she would call me July 7 after her meeting-SHE NEVER DID. My husband left a message this week to have Dr Yates call him. Never happened . I truly think the staff slacks off when the doctor is out of the office. I tried calling the medical staff office at Rockledge Regional but got a voicemail from another Tammy- hope not the same one from Yates office. I explained what happened to me and elaborated that this behavior will lead to malpractice suits. Plus not telling a physician called 3 times( my spouse) and wants to discuss problems with her staff( he has them too) is unacceptable and makes Dr Yates look bad. The administration can contact Dr Ethan A Webb at his office - he has concerns about this whole situation.

Totally Left Me in the Lurch
I had been a (long-standing) patient of Dr. Vicky Webb at Steward Medical in Midland TX. Dr. Webb has left and I have a long standing prescription that expires in 2 days (over the weekend). The script needs renewal. Since Dr. Webb is no longer there, there is only a PA who will not renew my script KNOWING THAT I WILL RUN OUT OVER THE WEEKEND until I see him, and as a PA he may not even be able to do it then. What can/will they do for me? Absolutely nothing, not even try. If Dr. Webb were still there she would arrange to see me as soon as possible and go ahead and do a partial fill or whatever, but this group is stuck in THEIR agenda, not this patient's. I am of course changing doctors, and he has agreed to see me before the weekend arrives so I can get my needed medication in time before it runs out. This on top of ALWAYS having trouble getting anyone - for appointments, refills, information, anything, to answer the phone. I would highly recommend if you are considering going to Steward Medical to cease that consideration and find another solution!

A business that has nothing to do with healthcare.
My PC doctor has been in this group for years. They take over medical facilities and good doctors and leave them NO way to get out. They are nothing more than a greedy money making business and could care less about patients or physicians. Stay away if you can! They just closed down my cardiologists medical center because they tried to become independent of the money making grubs at Steward. These people are worse than Bank America or any other greedy corporation! Find a good local doctor who is not involved with these gangsters.

Next to die please.
Steward, Rockledge, Florida

The worse ER on the planet, August of 2021 I was ill and had Covid symptoms. The P.A on the floor was pissed I came in and refused to issue a covid test. After I argued with him he went ahead and ordered a covid test. I had a temp of 103, I was coughing and felt like I was dying. After the test, I was told it would be two to three days for the result and to call to check the outcome. They took an x-ray and sent me home to die. two days passed I called and the results were not ready, the next day I called and the same thing, no results. On the fourth day, I called and was told the covid test was canceled, by this time I was knocking on death's door. I then went to a real hospital in the area, the ER doctor immediately admitted me into the Covid ICU and told my wife not to expect him to come home. I was in the hospital 18 days. I had just started working a new job and had no insurance and was forced to get on Medicaid. I had run a bill of $16800.00
plus three more ER visits for a total of $22000.00

The visit to the Rockledge ER was not paid by Medicaid and now I am being billed over $2500.00. I refuse to pay this bill, they should have admitted me right then and there. Maybe I would be healthy now, I am short of breath, can't do manual work, I am forgetful and lose words in mid-sentence, brain fog. I have pleaded my case to Steward but they refuse to take my side.

Never Go to any Steward related medical group, It's all about money and Zero Medical Care.

Don’t go near them
I can only share how they treat patients after their doctors have left the Medical group. I made an appointment a year ago after my last appointment. In the summer I got a letter that all the doctors in that office had left the practice. (I wonder why!). I kept my appointment because the PA was still there and I was ok with her this year. Yesterday, I went to my appointment and looked for the office I had gone to for years to find it closed. I called the number on a letter I had and no one answered. I called another number and was told the PA was gone also and the office was closed. No notice, no phone call! I was told I was the 3rd patient that had called that morning and it was only 9 am. Such poor patient communication, I wouldn’t go to any doctor in that group!

private practice vs group practice
I had a private practice physician at one time and it was nice. His office was close to the main door with less walking distance. Now this same physician works for the group. I think it's sad that doctors have to be forced into group practices, They should be able to choose. This thing about groups not sending referrals to private practice doctors is totally ridiculous ! I personally hate group practices. Doctors don't work together in the same way and patients aren't treated like a person or human being but as a number. I also hate going to huge buildings and walking a mile to see a doctor. I'm handicapped and older and it makes it extremely difficult for me.

I do not want anyone to deal with this organization. They send double bills, give collectors already paid bills. They don’t admit their mistakes, they blackmail us, they talk rudely and cannot figure out between their own departments. They lose pay, but blame the patient. God forbid someone get to them
