Steinberg, Shaford & Lewis

Review: On September *, 2013, I received a message on my office phone from an "[redacted]" (phone no. ###-###-#### or ###-###-####) stating that I owed a company called [redacted] for an undetermined amount. I told her I had never heard of the company and did not owe any amount to them. Further, after requesting an itemized bill for the supposed debt, [redacted] said she would forward it to my office email account ([redacted]). Subsequently, I received a letter from Steinberg, Shaford & Lewis with the following information: Date of Notice: 09/**/2013, Client Claim #: [redacted], Balance in Full Amount: $1400.00, Offer Deadline: 09/**/2013. It also said that with my payment in full today they would be enabled to drop the claim and report this as paid in full. Also, if I would like to apply for a hardship payment arrangement, to contact their accounts receivable department today to see if I may qualify. Furthermore, that to be advised that there is a $10 processing fee added to each payment. At the bottom of the letter, it is signed "Respectfully, [redacted], Steinberg, Shaford & Lewis."Desired Settlement: I demand a written guarantee that this Steinberg, Shaford & Lewis and [redacted] will no longer contact me concerning this bogus debt as there is no such debt at all and I have never heard of this company. Furthermore, please be aware I once was a special agent with the state of [redacted] and do not appreciate crooked scams like these.
