Booked a vacation through *** for June 6th through June 20th, 2020 on January of 2020. Due to Covid-19, needed to cancel. Contacted *** March 28th to cancel. Due to contract, I would not get my deposit back. Glad I didn't spend the extra money on trip insurance because it would have just been more money lost out of pocket. *** since has said they will return service fees. Spoke with Dean, the property owner to get a refund. He wouldn't do it as it is a business, we had a contract and he still has obligations to staff, taxes and mortgages, etc.. He offered to apply the deposit I made to a stay later this year but unfortunately with my kids in school, and other vacation plans, we couldn't work it out. He offered to book a stay next year in 2021 same time period but it would require full payment with no guarantee or reschedule. My wife and I agreed to not do this and I let Dean know. While Dean is going above what is required by the contract, and I understand he also has obligations, I am out of the $900 deposit and he can still book the room with plenty of advance notice. I hope this experience helps others who decide to use *** or travel using Stay in Cocoa Beach.
